they`re being bastards now and rental releases have nothing extra on them - really unfair! heh

That`s why my collection on average means all my films are under £10ner. If you can find them at blockbuster on ex-rental, it`s okay, sometimes they are willing to knock a few more quid if there`s tears on the covers (got Shakespeare in Love for £8, or was it £6?). Cash convertor in our areas ok aswell, if you can find any decent dvds, they charge £10 only. Chips in our area have quite a good selection of second hand dvds, not all under £10, but the high key releases are £13, which isn`t too bad sometimes.

Has anyone here actually ever paid the `typical selling price` for a DVD ?

I think my most expensive is Gladiator at £16.99 from Disc `n` Tape....

www.playcentric.com have it for aound that price(I`ve just placed an order with them for it, $23.20 including the P+P. Could have knocked off $2 if I remembered to add "MYSIMON99" to the reward code. Doh!). I have paid above shop prices, yeah on Hong Kong releases which are around £5er , but they are equal to £3 in Hong Kong (our brother just got some, £9 for 3. Bargain or what! Legal sh*t too.).

I`ve never paid full price for a disc. I have bought stuff from high street stores, but only the things in 2 for 1 offers. I got two films I wanted from V-Shops the other day for £28, but their individual prices are a total rip off. I`m taking the films back as one of them was a really bad disc (Blade Runner) and I can get the other about £6-7 cheaper from Australia. My worst impulse buy has to be Gladiator and Reservoir Dogs from Woolies. Cost me £35 for both. If I`d ordered online I could have knocked more than a fiver off of that. Still, swings and roundabouts and all that.

My local Blockbastards has a really limited selection of ex-rental stuff. I got Being John Malkovich for a good price, and Gremlins for a tenner, but that`s about all they have. Unless that is you want about 10 copies of Wild, Wild West, which I do not.

In answer to the question : I got Fight Club from one of these obscure little shops hidden away in town. Not a big name store, but they are sometimes to places to check out for decent prices.

I have actually paid more than 19.99 for a dvd!
Metallica S&M concert set me back a huge 25.99!

On the subject of Rental dvd`s though....

I tend to buy films which i already have on VHS but buy them on dvd because of the features.
Before actually forking out money for a dvd i research the features and settings of the dvd and decide wether it`s worth getting or not.

My girlfriend is a big fan of the scream trilogy and so when i bought scream 1 & 2 on dvd she was dissapointed by the extreme lack of features.
But then we looked on the net for info about scream 3`s features and on the dvd it has extra footage from scream 1 & 2 also!
Great.

I saw the movie in the rental shop and picked it up straight away!
Took it home in it`s nice rental case, to find that there were not any features on it because of the fact that it`s a rental copy!

What a rip off!
