What`s your favourite Comic Book/Superhero movie?

Within the last week we`ve had X-Men 2 and Hulk on DVD, both of which I think are outstanding films. We`ve also had quite a few others this year, including LXG and Daredevil. And last year we had Spider-Man and Blade 2.

Now, I must admit I prefer the Marvel characters, particularly the X-Men simply because they are so rich in backstory. But Hulk was almost as good, even though there isn`t much of a plot and the film relies completely on the journey of Bruce Banner. Then of course you have the Superman films (the first two that is) and Batman (again, the first two). There have been a number of poor comic book adaptations such as The Punisher and Spawn, and there was also the no-budget Fantastic Four movie which was never released.

And then there are the Superhero films that didn`t have a comic book, such as Sam Raimi`s Darkman and M Night Shyamalan`s Unbreakable.

I`m not a comic book reader, but I`m always looking forward to the next comic film. There`s just so much potential to make great films, although few filmmakers fully realise this. It`s probably because it usually revolves around a character with "superpowers" and a bright neon coloured spandex costume. Batman was the first movie to get over this and make a nice dark film (probably aided by Frank Miller though) and it set the trend.

Anyway, all I`m wondering is what your favourite comic book movie(s) is. It doesn`t necessarily have to be an adaptation either. My choice are the X-Men films :D

I must admit that I love the X Men movies...

The first Blade was brilliant as was The Crow.

Superman: The Movie is, was and ever shall be the greatest superhero movie of all time... now why doesn`t someone whack McG over the head and give the new Superman movie to those Wachowski boys?

I actually always liked Superman 3, as opposed to Superman 2. Not really sure what my favourite superhero film is though... possibly Sam Raimi`s "Spiderman".
