The newer handheld radios have the ability to use handsfree kits like you find on Mobile phones

Therefore, providing you have the right adapters you could feed the CD player output into it.
However, there may be some problems with levels of sound

Also - it would only be mono - not stereo

Argos sell a few, not sure how good they are, if it is just to listen to music how about Infra Red headphones and use a headphone splitter to allow it to run 2 sets.

Should be much better quality than a walkie talkie but would be one way only.

Using handheld walkie talkies, you`d also be clogging up a public communications channel.

And of course you`d be contravening countless public performance/ copyright/ transmission laws `cos technically you`d be doing pirate radio ;o)

For a show you say? Well, I don`t suppose the audience would be able to hear the transmission, even if they needed to. Could not the transmission called for in the script just be mimed, then you would`nt need to bother with all the technical gubbins, but there again I`m no stage manager. Re the copyright issue, if it was your own recorded material you were using then copyright wouldn`t be a problem. That still leaves you with the problem of using a radio frequency to broadcast on. As Mark Oates said, technically you`d be a pirate radio station.
