Skipping on Samsung/Thomson

Triks (Mostly Harmless) posted this on Thursday, 21st December 2000, 22:59

As I`m planning on buying a Samsung 811 or a Thomson 4500 before christmas I really need some advice, the thing is that there`s a rumour going, telling that these players tend to skip on even brand new DVD`s.
If you have one of these players please share your experiences with me/us.

I have an 811, and I had experienced skipping, but I tracked it down to overheating as the player was in a stack. I have moved it to be on it`s own, and sofar I have not had any problems. Found it has played everything I have thrown at it so far including CDR`s of mp3 files.

Thanx Wolfman. Did you manage to perform the Thomson hack on your player, and if so, any problems regarding RCE?

Yeah both the temp 709 and the Thomson hack worked OK, with no problems. Not sure about RCE as I do not have any RCE disks, but watch the threads here and other sites, do not seam to suggest there is any problem.
