Why did e-bay end my auction early ??????

bigwilko (Competent) posted this on Wednesday, 23rd October 2002, 16:23

I have just had an auction for "the sum of all fears" R1 DVD terminated early by e-bay. I was selling the disc as used and viewed once.

According to e-bay, Paramount Pictures complained that I had infringed their "rights".....!!

Bearing in mind that I had purchased the disc online from www.play.com , and that all UK taxes, duties and postage had been paid ; why can I not sell the disc on as second hand goods as I am the legal owner ??

E-Bay referred me to their VeRO "about me" pages, but unfortunately, Paramount weren`t listed.

Has anyone got any idea what infringement I`ve committed ???

may be because the offical release date is 29/10/02 and the company you got the dvd from, posted it out early.

Basically, with those dates, it almost certainly looks like you`re selling a pirate...

Is actually out early, my copy has shipped from Future.

Of course, Paramount will also be unhappy at you selling an R1 disc in R2

I`ve had something took of cos `it could be interpretted as being adult material` ashame as there were bidders. It`s best to note the e-mail of the highest bidder and then ask them if they still want it if it gets struck off.

Isn`t it funny how eBay removed your single item and it was a LEGITIMATE release and yet......

they see fit to ignore a seller of 100`s, YES 100`s of Multi Region or All Region Disney Movies.

He has sold over 180 in the last month alone and yet they do nothing about it..........his rating is around 550 + now

They say that they cannot remove any item as they do not HAVE the item in hand and cannot remove anything just because it is described in a certain way as they have no proof that the item is in fact illegal ????

Sounds to me, as long as they are getting their commission, they don`t really care !
