Parking tickets - are ticket busters any good!!

Got a £50 parking ticket off Westminster City Council in May. Wrote a letter to complain, but my complaint was rejected. I did pay for my parking ticket, but when the ticket was running out, I renewed the ticket and moved my car 15 metres forward towards my friend`s house. Max stay was 4 hours which I was well within, so the bastards basically gave me a ticket for moving 15 metres!

I found this website ticketbusters.co.uk, it`s £10 to register... Anyone tried it and is it worth doing or is there anyone else that can help in these situations? Otherwise I might write to them and offer to send them a cheque for £50 to a charity of their choice - my gripe is not about the money I just don`t want to line Westminster council pockets for handing out pointless fines...

Dig! Dandy Warhols movie

Anyone seen this new `movie` yet. Remember hearing an ad for it when I was in the States and it`s on general release here from Fri according to Empire who think it`s great! Can`t find a cinema that`s showing it though ):

It`s cheap at deepdiscount so i am buying it from them. I can`t wait to see it as I love the Dandy Warhols!

RE: Doctor Who... Hit, Miss, or Maybe?

Not impressed, but it was the first episode and they had to set things up I guess. Whoever came up with the killer Mannikens should be shot. The effects were crap, but I`m sure they always were. Piper was good, Eccleston was adequate, I can imagine him being a boring bastard in real life. He seems too serious whenever I`ve seen him. They should have got an old Sylvester McCoy in to do a morph into Eccleston, it would be amusing to see what he looks like now.

RE: The Village

Bought this blind and am a bit disappointed that it was a load of old rubbish. It was so slow paced as well, I had lost interest after 20 minutes! Definitely one to off load on Ebay. It seemed to be marketed as a chiller, but what it was I don`t know.

I think Unbreakable is great, but this one fell in to the Signs category. Not good!

RE: Switchblade Romance - Blind purchase... good or bad decision?

I suppose the title is a clue!

That was a class `blind` purchase for sure. Can`t wait to tell my friends about this! Can`t stop laughing about that decapitiated blow job scene!

RE: Disabled parking.

Parked in the disabled at work today. It was either that or the directors spaces as the rest of the car park was full. There`s only one or two disables people but a lot more disabled spaces, so they are never full. In `real life I`d never knowingly park in a disabled bay.

RE: Oldboy... so who has seen it?

Watched it the other day, but got distracted, so might watch it again later. Pretty good movie. Didn`t find the octopus scene shocking, just very funny. There`s other more shocking scenes really.

Only regret is that I got the VCD, should have just bought the DVD for the extra money.

RE: Anybody seen `SAW`?

Thought this was quite a gripping film and it held my attention throughout. Edge of your seat stuff, plenty of tension which is always good.

On the negative side the acting was as wooden as I don`t like. Particularly the doctor who looked like one of Scooby Doo`s mates which also put me off. SPOILER - Him sawing his leg of was hilarious and particularly unbelievable since he had been portrayed as being calm throughout. He`s portrayed as being logical and then goes and cuts his ankle of AFTER he has already missed the deadline. You cut fit a bus through the plot holes, but I`ll forgive this as the suspense and tension was on the money. You can`t sympathise too much with the main characters, certainly not the doctor with his stupid hair and generally he is not likeable. The actual plot is too contrived and relies on people doing things like killing each other that they wouldn`t actually do in reality.

The movie is more like Cube than Se7en.

RE: Credit Card billed by DIAGE

I haven`t bought anything from DVDPacific.com lately, but they do have my CC details and diage.com have billed them. Another transaction for about £140 has been made in the name WBsale.com

Last week I got sent a new card, as requested since the signature strip had warn off, so I`m safe from any further transactions. Anyway I`m quite confident that the CC companies will sort it out, so I wouldn`t worry too much.

RE: I`m not trying to pull you, even though you want me to

It`s s*** as simple as that. It must have been written in 3 minutes. Chav`s are scrubbers - the sort of people you see hanging around outside bargain booze.

RE: Any eBay advice for avoiding fake sellers?

Don`t go on feedback! Even if they have 100% they might be selling fakes. Some people are rubbish at spotting fakes. I can spot them a mile off. For example if it`s a DVD shipping without a hard case then it`s fake. If it shipping from Malaysia or Singapore - fake. If it is a new Hollywood film with Indonesian, Thai or Malay subtitles then it`s fake... If it is a US movie that plays all regions and is a new movie then it`s fake.

RE: going down down down

That lad singing and crying was hilarious it cheered me up after Wolves being all but relegated the day before. That kid had the funniest haircut i`ve ever seen - when he grows up and sees that I think he will have some harsh words for his mom. He looks like he will become a right hooligan...

So Leeds back in division 1. I wouldn`t tip them to bounce back, maybe do a Sheffield Wed or be a bit like Forest. West Ham and Sunderland have acquitted themselves well in division 1 this season (particularly Sunderland who were in total disarray), but I`m not convinced Leeds will fair as well. Out of the relegated teams Wolves are probably and hopefully best equipped to come back brighter. Camara and Cort will be a formidable pairing for Wolves. Cort is looking a good buy at the moment and is a massive threat in the air. In the event of a big offer for Camara, Miller has proved he can cut it in divsion 1 and will do well with Cort. I also rate Mickey Adams as a manager at the Foxes and he will have to be canny to get Leicester back, but he`s done it before. Good luck to them. Izzet is a big player though and they will miss him.

RE: People not paying for train tickets...

No, because then the passenger would have to get off the train and wait for another also the next station might have no ticket machine if it`s a local service. Ticket inspectors always have their credit card swiper and ticket printer with them, I`ve seen it happen thousands of times - only thing is they won`t let you use your railcard if you pay on the train.

RE: People not paying for train tickets...

The reason he isn`t handing out fines is probably because he is unable to. There are special ticket inspectors who have the authority to hand out penalty fares and it is rare to get one on the train. In reality when the inspector comes around and someone doesn`t have a ticket they just pay on the train (the same as if they got on at a station with no ticket office), I`ve done it myself a few times.

RE: Pirates are evil - FACT!

Some good points Bob. I agree, downloading one song which has probably all ready has it`s run in the charts probably doesn`t really affect anyone. Most people probably like the song, but wouldn`t want to buy the whole album.

Anyone who sells pirated goods in this country are scum though and people buying from them are mugs.

RE: Ron Atkinson resigns from ITV after making racist comment

It looks like football `icon` Big Ron has commentated on his last `Hollywood ball`. Can`t say I`ll particularly miss him. I think he redeemed himself a bit with his quick apology and interviews since. At least he will have more time to work on his tan now! One of my vivid memories of him is when he wore sunglasses at a night came a few years back.

RE: Subserviant Chicken

turn off lights, bow, pick nose and leave the room work, touch your toes as well. If you tell it to do anything rude you`ll just get it shaking it`s fingers at you. `Swim` is a quite funny one. If you say `vomit` it kind of pretends to puke up.

RE: Premiership Relegation Predictions?

Spurs, Leicester and Leeds. Wolves to win all their remaining games beating Spurs on the last day of the season and thus sending them to division 1. If Leicester beat Man City on Sat or at least draw that will be helpful as long as we gain our first away win at St. Andrews. In fact Leicester have two very big home games as they also must play Pompey. Bad news for them as they are at Highbury on the last day.

Portsmouth should be alright, I reckon they will win a home game and that will be enough.

Leeds need to win their basement clashes with Pompey and will probably need something on the final day against Chelsea to have any chance.

Blackburn and Spurs both have a couple of tough games coming up. If they don`t get the points they need Blackburn`s visit to White Hart Lane could be crucial.

Man City could be in further peril if they fail to beat Leicester as they have a difficult game against Newcastle next.

At the moment, in all honesty every club above Man City looks okay and it might take some strange results for anyone else to fall into the relegation zone.

RE: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

Saw it free with Empire a few days ago. The title is awful, but I wasn`t turning my nose up for free. It started off okay, you are shown the end of the film at the beginning - that`s not a spoiler by the way because you will realise this after the opening credits. I wasn`t too keen on the narration though. The film is very dialogue heavy which is fine if the dialogue is snappy and witty, but that was not the case here. I only laughed once (when the Wood character knocks on the car window and has a word with Joel), other people in the cinema laughed at certain things, so clearly some people enjoyed this film more than me.

The synopsis was quite interesting, but ultimately for me the film was a bit boring and as you have been shown/can figure out the ending, I was just waiting for us to get there as soon as possible. It`s slightly convoluted, I think telling the story in order would have worked better. I`d give it 2 stars.

RE: R1 DTS v R2 2.0 Surround Sound ?

Wasn`t as funny as when Kenny Miller crashed in the stoppage time equaliser at Molineux. Stuart Hall said that Heskey looked as out of place on a football field as a nun in a strip club on Sat!

Anyway we were hard done by but can take some encouragement from the performance ahead of the game against Chelsea. Liverpool have underachieved massively this season and it wasn`t that much of a surprise that they struggled on Sat.

RE: Can anyone recommend a centre speaker?

Just been looking through some centre speakers on a price comparison site. You can chose between 1 way through to 4 way speakers. What`s the benefit/importance of getting a 3 way for instance rather than 1 way or 2 way?

RE: need a very quick recommendation, please

Samsung 235D only £70 from Curry`s and it tells you how to hack it. More expensive than the Pacific, but it`s a leading brand and you said you had £100 to spend. If you go into Curry`s they`ve probably have Philips and LG one`s in that price bracket which should also be hackable.

RE: Can anyone recommend a centre speaker?

They are Technics CB CS 95:

Model SB-CS95.
Impedence 8 ohms
Power 100 watts Din.
Frequency Response 37Hz- 25 Khz
Sensivity 88 dB / W

RE: SPLASHDVD OUT OF BUSINESS

Quote:
Really? You could sell a turd for a profit on ebay. It just staggers me what some people will pay, and its usually over the first hand RRP. Ebay is, essentially, founded on chumps who will pay through the nose for things. I cant remember finding anything on EBay that i couldnt get cheaper through a reputable etailer (except for things that are no longer in production of course)

Yeah, I agree that prices normally go above the cheapest reputable retailer which may have been SplashDVD before they went bust. Obviously, Ebay take their cut though, so the small profit would not be worth the time and effort. It would be better value to get a part-time job. If you make your search worldwide you can sometimes get new R1 releases for about £10-11 including postage (if you buy 2 and combine shipping), so there is value to be found on Ebay if you look carefully. I got Confidence and Identity for £20 in total when they came out in the US, I also recently got Freddy vs Jason and Thirteen for about £21. So, you can get some good deals, and the pound is strong against the dollar.

RE: SPLASHDVD OUT OF BUSINESS

I think it`s a bit bizarre that anyone could think they could make money from buying DVDs from a retailer and then selling them on Ebay. Anyway, I obviously sympathise with those who didn`t get what they paid for.

A few pages back someone mentioned a site that sells new DVDs for £7 with free postage. This site is selling bootlegs. Do not use it. If a site is selling DVDs that are not quite out in the USA and saying they are in stock and not pre-orders then they are counterfeit. If they are shipping without hard cases then they are fake. If the grammar on the website is poor then they are probably based in South-East Asia which means the DVDs will be fake. If there is no e-mail address, phone number or address then that`s another obvious sign. I won`t give out the web address because I don`t want to encourage people to use it.

The lastest scam on Ebay is for people to try and sell `E-books` of sites where you can buy new DVDs for £7. Don`t fall for it. If the site was a wholesaler then you wouldn`t just be able to buy 1 DVD on its own.

Can anyone recommend a centre speaker?

Hi,

I`m going to be buying a speaker for a home cinema system. Everything else is in place, at the moment I am borrowing my mates Pioneer speaker (I think 120W). I want to get something similar which can ideally be laid on it`s side in front of the TV. I can`t perch it on to off the TV (it`s not flat). My mate is selling the Pioneer speaker, but there are two, so he`s keen to sell them as a pair.

thanks

Rich

RE: Who offers free world-wide shipping?

Are you living in the UK?

RE: Why are Raspberry flavoured things coloured blue?

Couldn`t they have made the Cheese and Onion blue like Walker`s. I`d agree though that green is the traditional colour for cheese and onion, and blue for S & V. Walker`s have got it wrong.

Isn`t Blue WKD supposed to be raspberry flavour?

RE: a film called cypher

I bought a German (ex-rental) edition off Ebay a few months ago. It`s good, but Cube is better. I think there is a two disc special edition out in Germany as well, might be worth looking out for on Ebay, if you don`t want to wait for the UK release.
