Today is my Birthday and I have managed to attain the ripe old age of 26. When I woke up this morning it hit me, `what the hell am I doing with my life?`.

I go to work every monday morning at 8 and leave at 5.30, get home, have tea and then watch the goggle box until bedtime (unless I am fortunate enough to go down the pub) Weekends consist of much the same without the work. If I`m lucky I might go camping or for a walk at the weekend. Well, what a life!

Anybody got any suggestions? (Apart from the obvious...`get a life` pun).

P.S. Giving up Smoking yesterday might have something to do with me feeling like sh*t.

Happy Birthday Greg
I`m in a similar situation, 27 years old, got the mortgage, car loan, wife with over shopping dissorder, 2 little girls that won`t stop growing out of their clothes, so got to work to pay for it all and no money left for me to go out with the lads.
Work all day, come home and cook tea, put kids to bed then go channel flicking for a few hours then bed.
But apart from lifes great, now where`s that Russian Rullette Game.

Maybe you should be thankful.

You are still young. Ask someone about to retire if they would swap places with you.

You have a job be greatful your not unemployed, or so sick you cannot work or disabled that nobody wants to hire you.

Think about how many people are hungry or homeless in this country, never mind elsewhere, when you make your tea.

While you watch your television, some people are so poor they cannot afford one. And l guess you also have a dvd player and films.

As for camping or a walk. Think about those in wheelchairs who would love to do either.

Think about it...

Ah! I knew I would get a response something like that, i.e. be grateful, think of those who don`t have this/that.

I don`t think you understood what I was saying,

True: I am fortunate to have a well paid job, house, fiancee, even a DVD (Woohoo! :).

but

False: I shouldn`t be thankful for it. No, that is entirely wrong and here is my point.

I have been working all of my life on one thing or another, I get taxed on what I earn, I am required to do what society tells me is right (if I don`t I am sent to Prison or something), black is black and white is white, we eat junk, we consume consume consume...and at the end of it we die. So, why do I have to follow this existence? Why are we here? It cannot be to enrich life on earth because we do the opposite! Why should I have to try and shaft other companies in order to please my company`s shareholders? Why do we waste so much and let our own kind suffer? Why indeed do we make our own kind suffer through war and oppression? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why?...surely we as a species should have a purpose beyond that of a locust.

So my original exclamation stands, there must be more to life than this!!!

WE all are given enough in life to keep us from revolting, but sometimes we awake, as it seems you have done & can`t see a way out. There are people a lot worseoff (we all know that, but there are an awfull lot who are a lot better off) they can go where they want when they want. To be like this you have to be born into money, win the lottery etc, have a hit record, rob a bank. Failing this it is time to think of improving what you have. Perhaps get a better job, or go to evening classes to get better qualifications,(a hastle I know). A self employed trade will get you out of your problem if you work at it. There are a lot of trades that pay a lot of money with little knowledge needed.

Mushroom season is just around the corner. Try some - that should give you a new perspective on things ( for 6 hours at least)
