Rating Rio

Rio Fredy may be a good defender and MIGHT become a great one day but 30 million???

This amount was just pulled out of thin air by the media and everyone nodded in agreement. Nobody else even made an approach! Lillian Thurman would have fit snuggly into Utd`s defence, cost half as much and has greater ability that Rio.

Money well spent???

As a Leeds supporter I hope Venables will make good use of the £30million and that ManU have to sell some of their squad to pay for Rio.

In the long run it could well be money well spent (for ManU). Rio is a fairly young, talented player and wants to go far. Shame he couldn`t wait a year or two longer and get a win at Leeds which I believe will possible.

He may be worth £30 mil but he will sure give chadwick a run for his money in the ugly stakes.

All the best,

Man United wont have to sell any players to pay for Rio, lol they have loads of money to be splashing around.. our team is complete now, we just need to get rid of dwight yorke now and everything will be sorted our defence now has a good boost so we better win the premiership this season

Man U don`t have loads of money to splash around whatever you might think. They have more than the vast majority do, but it is a finite supply.

As for the team, it is pretty damn good, but with Barthez in goal you may still find it difficult.

nobody is worth that amount of money but at the end of the day its the current market price for one of europes best defenders. nesta, cannavaro would come in at similar prices. united have the financial clout to pull off such a big transfer, so why not?!?! as fergie said yesterday, in looking at his potential, age and nationality rio represents a very good investment, far better than buying someone like thuram for around £20,000000 who only has a few years left in him. im also think by playing along side larry, rio can develop into the greatest centre half our club has ever seen.
