Superman - The Ultimate Collection, which region?

robjphat (Mostly Harmless) posted this on Wednesday, 25th October 2006, 14:44

Hi,

i am interested in buying Superman - The Ultimate Collection but i`m unsure which region to go for? Does anyone know which region will be getting the `best` version?

Playusa has the r1 version listed as a tenner cheaper and it comes with a tin box, comics, etc. The description of the r2 version on play.com doesnt mention these extras but that is not to say that a limited edition version will not come out in this country.

Obviously the R1 version is the best deal at this stage but i would rather buy r2 to avoid customs.

apologies if there are other threads about this topic.

The only difference between the R1 and R2 as far as I can see is that the R2 doesn`t have the two repro comics and the production diary for Superman Returns disc from the R1.

I`ve been toying with the idea of getting this, but I don`t like that Superman Returns comes in the set. Am I missing out on much if I buy the Christopher Reeve set and SR seperately??

I`ve just had a look at Play.com and in the specifications for the extras for `Superman Returns` in the R2 version of the boxset it states that it has `deleted scenes excluding Return To Krypton`!?!

Well thats a cracking selling point aint it? >:(

Personally I cant wait for this set. Ordered R1 from PlayUSA. Value for money in my mind as you get 8 films and a fair few full length documentaries.

Before anyone asks what 8 films?
1. Superman
2. Superman Special Edition - okay very little difference
3. Superman II
4. Superman II Donner Cut - big difference
5. Superman III
6. Superman IV
7. Superman Returns
8. Superman Vs The Mole Men

Has anyone got the knowledge on the options for the Superman box sets - not so much costs, but the regions - R1, R2 and R4 - which is the most comprehensive version?

Does the R1 have one more disc than R2. I saw this on CD WOW and wasn`t sure if it was a mistake?? But if not what does the extra disc have on it that R2 doesnt?
