Page 1 of Which was better Batman Begins or Superman Returns?

Wathced Superman Returns the other day just wondering what you thought was better.

I enjoyed Batmans Begins better as it seemed more raw and edgy, superman i thought was not as good because some minor problems with the story and Clark and Louis` friendship was a bit of a let down.

The surprise (you know what it is) in the middle of the film its a part of a story that it didn`t need. Amazing special effects though.

One was a brilliant reworking of a classic character the other a tired rehash of old ideas.
Can you guess which one I preferred? ;)

Superman was i thought was a bit to long and was frankly a bit dull. It was to squeaky clean and was a bit to polished for my liking.

Batman on the other hand was brilliant as the story was orginally went back to it roots, casting was spot on and was really wanting to see part 2 of it. 8)

Superman 2 not that bothered to tell you the truth :(

I think it`s because of Batman Begins that Superman Returns seems so pants!! Batman for me raised the bar and set a new benchmark for comic book films.

The part what made Batman look like the devil was the part which made me forget about Batman forever and Batman and Robin for good.

Superman Returns was just so slow faster! i say faster! Nothing new or intresting enough and come on you can`t tell clark kent from superman, is everybody in movie land blind.

Batman Begins was the better "film" as in story, characters etc.
But the better "movie" was Superman as in more action, spectacular etc. Story and characters were sufficient.

Lots of Wow moments in Superman, only one in Batman Begins were he is stood on top of a buidling and the helicam pans around him, apparantly Chris Nolan claims there were no efects done in that shot.

There is a difference I think between a Film and a Movie, the same way there is a difference between a Star (Tom Cruise) and an Actor (Paul Giamatti). But thats a whole other discussion.

i thoroughly enjoyed both.

Batman begins, as a great story driven movie, about a superhero, which I enjoyed as an adult.

Superman Returns I loved, cos I felt like I`m sure I did when my dad took me to see Superman 2 at the cinema, so I enjoyed that as a big kid.

I think on IMDB I gave them both 9

BB for me. As izombie said, its a dramatic reboot of a classic character and is done in such an inventive way, you totally believe in him.

Superman Returns is a good movie, but on seeing it for the second time, the giddy 8 year old with a tear in his eye was replaced by a cynical bloke who kept thinking `yeah, thats cool and all, but I want to see a more modern superman`......

I can see why Singer went that way, but I think Superman in the millenium is arguably a more interesting character as he is juxtaposed against literally everyone. No one is as good as Superman any more so I think, personally, a BB style revamp would have been more interesting. I think in his slavish devotion to the old movies he missed a good opportunity, to be honest and, probably, one of the reasons SR didnt do the business that everyone thought it would.
