True Lies (R2) - sound problems

Anyone else experienced problems with this new release? I watched it last night and in various parts of the film the sound `drops` - ie. suddenly goes quieter. very annoying. I use a scan 2000 and have never experienced this before.

Not got this movie but the same happens on The World is Not Enough, especially in the boat chase. Lent it to a friend and he had the same problem and it also happens on my new player.

Yep I`m afraid I`d have to agree - I was looking forward to True Lies in sexy 5.1 but was disappointed in the overall sound quality especially when compared to other Cameron flicks like T2 and The Abyss. The sound fluctuates from excellent to poor and while certain scenes, notably with the harrier, are the dog`s gonads, other more ambient scenes seem to lack that 5.1 punch. Disappointing.

I hear Fox are going to re-release this title as a 5-star edition (like Die Hard) sometime next year which means at least a DTS soundtrack... you live and learn.

I had the same problem with a couple of other discs. Check out this thread, it might help:

I have just received region 4 and I dont think there are any problems with the sound, in fact I found the sound very good, is the problem only on the zone 2 disk.? I will listen to it again just in case I have missed it.

goto chapter 27 (dentist scene!) and listen to the sound carefully...

as they talk all of a sudden the level drops...

the same feeling you get when you`ve got an ear wax problem!

(this is through the tv - no fancy dolby etc!)

Sometimes its because the disc has so much info on it !! If you are listening to it through an a/v rec. the ensure you chose your sound option manually instead of you receiver doing it. This solved my problems with T2 hope it can help you
