has anyone seen this film by akira kurosawa? it is worth buying? did they realy base a fistfull of dollars on it? and is that why clint has such a strange hair cut? honest opinions please folks

Yes, I`ve seen it. If you like Kurosawa, then you`ll probably like this. Yes they based A Fistful of Dollars on it. Hair cuts were all strange in 1964.

I personally didn`t really think that much of it. Too much poncy self-important acting and `meaningful stares` for my tastes. Having said that I`ve only seen it once and have been known to change my mind on repeat viewings :)

surely though that could be said of eastwood in fistfull couldn`t it? thank for the insight though. as i do enjoy kurosawa i might just buy yojimbo.

Yojimbo was damn good, but probably not to everyones tastes. It was quite long and sometimes not all that obvious what was going on, but worth watching for sure. It was sort of bleak though. Hmm.

Not sure what the DVD was like though.
