The Exorcist. Director`s Cut.

Can anyone help?

There`s a director`s cut of The Exorcist due out in October on R2. I`m a big fan of the film and I wondered what, if anything, this new version has that the 25th Anniversary version doesn`t.

I`m restricted to R2 at present. What I really want to see is the Version You`ve Never Seen. Am I going to have to get my Pioneer machine chipped to get to see it, or does the Director`s Cut include the missing bits?

Thanks in advance.
Thingfish.

"The Directors Cut " is "The Version You`ve Never Seen", which if you have seen the excellent documentary on the 25th anniversary issue you will know that the director NEVER wanted these bits in in the 1st place it was the writer William peter blatty that did. Tis new version has been cobbled together by the distributers is also includes "CUTS" i.e. bits taken out of the original altogether and new bits added. to see the full list of different versions of this film go to www.dvdfile.com/software/cut_list/exorcist.htm hope this explains everything

Theres a r4 version coming out before the r2 version it will probally also be r2 encoded so you should be able to play it on a r2 only dvd player

I wouldn`t bother with it if I were you. As smithy says it`s a cash in. You get the deleted scenes in the original DVD version (which you should be able to pick up for under a tenner) and the - perfectly reasonable - explanation why they were omitted first time round.

i have both the orignal release and tvyns and i recommend getting both!!! each have different extras and the sound and added effects on tvyns are really cool. you may say a cash-in but at £12 a go i like to think of it more as a 2 disc boxset...
