The Village

Just finished waching the R3 from cd-wow.

Am I the only one that saw what was going to happen within the first 10 minutes?

It was a good film but

SPOILER:
That "twist" was so blatant that they may as well have put it on the cover

Not only is it blatant, the `suprise` ending is also crap. As Peter Bradshaw said in his review in the Guardian:
Quote:
Wear not the bad colour - for it angers them! Do not go into the woods - for that is where they live! Reveal not the surprise ending - for it is completely rubbish!

its not really about the twist so much. The idea of the film is for people to see the twist coming, and dwell on how they feel about doing it. Its supposed to be a post 9/11 social commentary type thing.

Yeah I thought it was complete crap when I saw it.

"You mustn`t speak, about those we do not speak of" bollocks, maybe you should shut the f*** about them then.

just watched this on dvd. when it finished the first thing that sprung to mind was, was that it.

i didnt guess were it was going, but when i know there might be a twist i try not to second guess things too much. but i just thought it was very so-so, unless i missed something quite big.

The film was overrated big time. Did anyone see the documentary made for the sci-fi channel when it was being made. Best fun was after they had been to see Johnny Depp who was first lined up to play the lead role. He dropped out as he thought the director was a control freak and weirdo, They gave him a list of surreal things to say to the press in interviews about the film and director. They were to sound as if he was making a profound statement of something that had just occurred to him. Then came the interview with the Brit. actor who was playing the part, and out came all these spur of the moment thoughts from him that Johnny had told us about. The documentary crew got banned from the set in the end for talking to people (anyone) without permission.

First time I have heard that Ben, but if you have info otherwise pray tell. It did not seem like a spoof, the films executives seemed to be pretty p***ed off with the doc`s makers at the meeting with the Sci-Fi channels bosses.
