Shrek 3D - Anyone seen it - is it worth the investment

Flabris (Competent) posted this on Tuesday, 8th June 2004, 16:10

Only just realised that this was about and even on release on Region 2, but everything I`ve seen suggests that it`s the original film with a few extra`s

Are the extras worth the investment, or should I just stick with my current R1 original ? :D

Is it nothing to do with the Shrek 4D show at Universal? If so that was brilliant and the 3D was great (the 4th dimension was water being squirted on you and the seats moving).

I thought it was the origional film, and a second disk with an `all new` adventure (in 3D) so Id guess that the first disk is the same as the origional release...I dont have any of em so I wouldnt know for sure...maybe it is the 4D thing from the universal show...without the moving seats LOL

I`ve seen it, loved it, but I don`t think it`s worth the price. You get exactly the same disc as you bought before and a second disc with the new material on (oh, and four pairs of red-green glasses).

The "+3D" disc as they call it carries a short (14 minute) mini-adventure that bridges Shrek and Shrek 2. Fiona is kidnapped on honeymoon by ex-executioner Thelonious (working for the ghost of Farquaad). The film is a series of chases and gags which all get in-your-face in 3-D. The film is presented in both standard flat and anaglyph (red-blue) 3-D at 2.35:1. There are two trailers for Shrek 2 and a couple of promos for Universal theme parks (one of which identifies the source of the 14 minute 3-D film as the film used in the "Shrek 4D" ride.

I rented from Blockbuster to check it out.

I loved Shrek 4D when I saw it at Universal last summer - it is worth upgrading to, although the artwork is horrible IMO.

Seems like just a shameless cash in to me. They could have quite easily put the 3D film on the Shrek 2 DVD.

It bugs me when studios rerelease films on DVD on the advent of a sequel in the cinema. >:(

I was actually disappionted by it... A Bugs Life at Animal Kingdom and Muppets at MGM were much better
