Personal DAB radio

Snaps (Elite) posted this on Wednesday, 4th January 2006, 23:46

The CO OP are selling a Ministry of Sound DR011 Personal DAB Tuner for £24.99.
Very good price as the cheapest I can find it is over twice that price.

Not available online though so you need a store near you.
Unfortunately I don`t have one near me but maybe some of the rest of you might get lucky.

8) :/ how did you hear about this? i went in to my local co-op in dorset, its a big superstore and they didnt have them on the shelves.but the ticket was there as £49.99.
so,i asked at checkout, then they fetched one and it was scanning as £49.99.
so,can you confirm as to how you know they are the lower price? i mean i`m for going back and arguing the toss to make a saving as they are a nice bit of kit. you are talking about the small personal dab radio thing?
cheers.

I can recommend this personal DAB - I`ve had one for around 18 months. Sound quality is good to excellent if you`ve got a strong DAB signal. If you`re moving around - on a train for example - the signal can drop out, leading to a scatching noise (as opposed to some other DAB sets, which merely `burble` when the signal strength is low).

The DR011 is a bit hungry on batteries, though - I get about 3 hours use out of a pair of 1800 mAh NiMH rechargeables. The set has an DC-in socket so you can plug a mains adapter into it.

To go with this DAB, I bought a pair of isolating earphones - the Ross Sparkplugs are available for around £15. These allow me to keep the volume at the 2nd/3rd lowest setting most of the time, and increases the battery life over what I used to get with the maker`s supplied headphones (I used to need the volume on the 1st/2nd highest settings with the old phones). The lead on the Spark Plugs is a bit longer than that on the supplied set, so I get slightly better reception with the Spark Plugs, to boot ...

Cheers,
d`ijj.

This DAB radio is only available in one store in Scotland...if you actually read the MSE post.

The CO-OP is not a national store.

There are many CO-OP`s and they are all different according to region.
