ULTIMATE ET OR ULTIMATE RIP OFF

Has anyone recieved there E.T. gift set yet,mine is on it`s way from play but after various reports i`m dubious about opening it to find i`ve been ripped off.OK i wanted the original 1982 version and don`t mind having the new version but reports that the standard edition contains both versions for around £17 is not only better value but i`m paying another £20 for the privelige of a cd script and seni tpye which i`m happy to own,it`s just now with days of the release date universal has sprung this surprise after it presells the expensive boxed version......... well hopefully it`s not a digi pack....

If you`re looking a dreamcast i`ve got 3,with one to spare.A complete package of console games memory unit arcade stick 2 light guns keyboard mouse and internet disc if you are interested.

Got mine from play this morning,picture is perfect.I flicked through a couple of the songgs only but what i saw was good,sound seems to be the same as the 25th aniversary laserdisc in 5.1.

Has the same featurete as the laserdisc and as seen on vh1,the packaging is a letdown as it comes in a cardboard digipack with french titles,but inside is the english cover which i`m gonna get colour copied and put in a keepcase.

Hope the other musicals come in keep cases but at least i can photo copy them if they are the same packaging.

try using a good cable like s-vhs or rgb,you can get region x disc for around £20 to make your player multi region and output true rgb.

It will record programes transmitted on on ch4 or any of the other channels which are transmitting a 16x9 signal with no black bars,or if your sky digibox box is set for 16x9.

Hugo connect your dvd player to your tv via and rgb scart this will cure your problem.

My mate had a panasonic tau and sony dvd player with this problem,the macrovision was affecting the s-vhs signal.

Go for ex/es systems,all you are adding is one extra speaker cable to the back of the room.I`ve had mine almost 2 years with great bennefits,playing non encoded ex/es films with good results.Gladiator in dts discrete 6.1 and the haunting in dts discrete 6.1 rocks with bass that will rock your house.

Bigfan would you buy a book with a french cover,i wouldn`t.

The point is retailers should tell you the discs are canadian then you have a choice to buy or leave,they advertise the u.s. cover which is false advertising they don`t say the discs may have french covers.

A couple of sites are now advertising both the u.s. and canadian versions,it is all a matter of choice why we buy region 1 over region 2 although the gap is narrowing region 2 can kick some serious ass now,and why we want english covers not french.

I suggested to the dvd file about a petition for dvd retailers to state there product was canadian,he sugested speaking to the retailers.One companies attitude was take it or leave it.

I find that all these so called special editions and 2 disc sets are so hyped up and advertised that when i eventually get them i`m totally dissapointed.

Some of the better discs with extras have been the lesser publicised titles,the best discs out there has to be terminator 2 ultimate edition having owned it on laserdisc i knew what to expect as well as the abyss

As for audio commentaries they are pretty imformative although i have yet to listen to a complete one,but i`ve listened to around 30 minutes of air force one and parts of goldeneye.

I prefer the extra dts track,superbit is good but having bought the titles before and having to fork out again for a added dts soundtrack i`m against unless the title will benefit like airforce one,the patriot was stunning on the 1st release the superbit is almost identical.

Adding the soundtrack in 5.1 would be welcome although the music companies would have something to say about loss of revenue,but at the end of the day if there are extras on the disc i`ll watch them as it`s nice to get some extra content but as long as the discs are widescreen and multichannel i`ll be happy..

It will be another disaster,we`ll end up with competing fomats like recordable dvd.I`ve been through them all from betamax which beat vhs for quality,sony just didn`t market it now they`ve got there revenge with the playsatation,i just wish they`d get there act together with sacd.
I don`t think we`re ready yet for hd dvd,satellite is really getting to were it should be with dolby digital although limited,give us hd satellite and progress from there.

Reversible sleeves are a good option i`ve no problem with that as i`ve rush hour 2 and bridget jones both with these covers.Its only when you get a film like grease due from paramount which is cert to have french name plastered on it.Others are fatal attraction vanilla sky pulp fiction pretty in pink (bad fim anyway) some kind of wonderful indecent proposal. At least with some movies from other regions you`ve got a language or subtitle option.

This company has been around since laser disc and forced a few other companies out with back stabbing dealings and a friend who sold laser discs got a call from them claiming to be the bbfc.Lots of good companies out there cd wow deliverd bttf in over 2 days amazing service,takes longer for a local delivery thinking of def using them in future if i can get non canadian discs.

I checked my account earlier and yes it said order placed and in stock,i checked later this evening to be told it`s on pre order and out of stock bit of a dissapointment as i told my daughter she`ll probably have it next week.

I used to buy from videocave in new york,great prices and only $10 airmail for 8 titles which took around 10 days to arrive but the post office always hit me for around £25 each order in customs fees.I changed to dvd express again ordering 8 titles and paying $35 for fed ex delivery in 3 days but then again i got big customs bills.Play is good but i`ve heard bad reports about some other sites from friends and magazines it`s a tough decision,don`t like taking my business from play as they are pretty good if not slow in updating new releases,had to cancel speed 1,2 boxset from enterprisesdvd at £28 as play anounced a couple of days before hand the box at £18. Bought back to the future from cdwow delivered in 2 days was told by uk company there discs were copied does anyone know if this is true as the discs are damm good if they are.

Is it just me that is sick of getting canadian dvd`s with french language plastered over them or a big logo on front saying french version incluse.Recently i`ve got pulp fiction worst packaging ever,the last castle and more with french covers`i don`t live in france i don`t speak the language so why should i be subjected to these discs.Does any retailer supply genuine US region 1 titles with english covers they all advertise them but when you recieve them they are french kind of false advertising.I was going to order blade 2 from play but thought it might be an alliance video version not the new line version,anybody know where i can get reg 1 disc from uk companies excluding play or enterprisesdvd.

I got mine from enterprises dvd thinking it would be the US version,instead i got a crap canadian version with french writing and flimsy cardboard case.Definately not what i`d call collectors packaging i`m selling it as i`m totally dissapointed.

It`s a bit surprising that heartbreak ridge is being released in dolbly surround,surely the effort could of being made to remaster in 5.1 even if it was only a 4.1 track as some of the fox titles.After the effort in every which way but loose and the sequel surely we deserve the same audio presentation,complaints aside i`ve been waiting for this title for a long time in widescreen if we could only have more clint titles like tightrope and for mgm to remaster the spaghetti westerns in 16x9.
