About this user: Not sure quite what to write here, but I used to work with an AV company, which got me interested in Linn, which then got me interested in Home Cinema`s. When I talk about home cinema`s i mean 25K worth of amps, da-lite 2mx2m screen, rear projection, that sorta thing!!

I love F1 and Rally. Have dreams of becoming a racing driver - some times pretend I am Colin McRae. But then I see that I am a Bit sad!!

I own a 205 Gti, which i love to bits, dunno why its got so many problems!!

I think i have waffles on enough!!

Movie Tastes: Change all the time.
Home Entertainment Equipment, :not much as i am really poor. Sony 28" Flat screen, STR-930 amp, this and that, cant really remember, its my bloke who has the "real Equipment" .

RE: How much have you spent @ play.com?

at least a couple of hundred quid. I tend to buy a job lot of dvd`s every couple of months. ;)

RE: V A T on DVD Imports

I brought a the Back to the Future Trilogy from Australia. No problems, I brought it again for a mate, and it had something on it about paying VAT.

No idea how I am supposed to pay??

RE: Macro Free or Hackable DVD Player for sale?

Just to update.

I have just brought the Apex for £62.72 inc VAT & P&P from dabs.com

RE: What is the Cheapest DVD player on the Market?

I saw the Richer Sounds one (Accoustic Solutions) but then saw a good deal on the Sony DVPN300 - Multi-Region (I assume they have chipped it? or is that a mistake) for £169.95.

Cheers.

What is the Cheapest DVD player on the Market?

I have lost touch recently with the latest technology and I am interested to know what is the cheapest dvd player (multi-region/hackable) on the market at the moment.

Many Thanks.

RE: Choices, choices

When the DAV s300 first came out - I too was impressed but what you should remember is that although you would be buying sony quality and amp and dvd player combined will never be that good.

Obviously your budget would not allow you to go out and buy Linn but sticking with sony you can`t go far wrong.

I ended up with DVP-S335 dvd player (soon to be chipped) and STR-DB830. I sort of cheated with the speakers and sub as I went for Linn which was highly extravagant! (center speaker and sub !)

Seperates are better. Shop around don`t just buy what sony or yamaha think you should have in a "home Cimema".

Once you decide what exactly you want (even if it is S300) then give Sound and Vision a call, on 01204 707079. Ask for their best price (they sold me a £900 TV for £500. They gave me free delivery!

Good luck

Sony DVP-S335

I know I have to get the damn thing chipped (£25 and an hour of my time no big deal)

but I have been reading into this RCE.

When I chip my dvd player will I beable to watch dvd`s like 6th Day and bedazzled??

Is there anything that can be done??

RE: dvd rce problem

I have a sony s335 and I have been reading about this RCE.

I was going to get it chipped using a chip from dvdchips.co.uk, but they are telling me that rce encoded disc`s wont work.

Will the manual region selection set work in my case??

cheers
Nat

I just read one of your messages - £125 to get your sony chipped?!?!?!

f***!! I was looking into it myself and I am sure as I hell I can get it done cheaper. (working for an AV company has its perks!!)

If I find a way to get it done cheaper then I will let you know.

If not then I will be buying myself another dvd player for when i want to watch multi-region!! I will get a cyberhome adn212 - I have had no probs with em so far - and for £110 does it matter!!?!?!?

Natasha

RE: cheap, dodgy, bargain bucket DVD players, which one?

Cyber Home ADN212

£119.99 at richer sounds.

Fantastic for the money. quality is comparable to my sony.

RE: Sony DVP335/336

no bad experience.

i have the 335

if you buy sony you WILL get the quality.

RE: Which Low-priced Multi-region DVD player?

Mr Bond>

All the ones you mentioned....Don`t.

alot of people don`t like these but I do. Cyber home ADN212.

they dont do nothing special but they play region 1. I brought one for a mate at Christmas and it cost me £119.95 at Richer sounds.

I have had no problems - it plays region 1 with one simple code once.

bloody easy!! all for £119.95. and when you decide you want more you can upgrade. (I found the quality comparible to my Sony which cost me £300!!)

RE: Dumb Blonde with an Aiwa XD-DV370 needs amp/decoder help !!!

Ok, the best thing for you to do is give these guys a call:

01204 861861
Sound & Vision.

They are all really help guys, and best of all they sell cheap stuff.

eg,

I have a Sony STR-DB830, its old now but that will do all you need and they sold it too me with more than 50% off of what Sony would have sold it to me at the time.

or buy a magazine like Home Entertainment, and look though it and you`ll have a better idea!

Sony DVP-S335

Have had it for ages, and just realised that I am stupid for waiting until region 2 release dates.

I need my baby chipping....or so that I can play Region 1.

What do I do??

Cheers for the help,
Natasha

RE: Playstation 2

I was just wondering, i dont have one or plan to get one, i am quite happy with my dvd player.

Playstation 2

Has there or will there be a chip released soon to enable u to play dvd`s from other regions and copied games (on CD-Rs)

Cheers

Himage DVD2290 (region 2 only)

What`s this I hear?

DVD player for under £100. Only at richer sounds!!

Does anyone know if its any good?

cheers
natasha

RE: Proline DVD2000

Buy a Cyberhome ADN 212. This is multi region, and i am impressed.#

I brought one for my grandad for this christmas. I tested it, and i love it.

the best but is that its £119.95 at richer sounds!! It is infact the cheapest dvd player you can buy apart from the britanica deal of £99 (REC 2000)

RE: LG 3200E and/or SONY DVP S335, comments anyone?

Get sony. It is alot more expensive, but you will end up with quality. I own one!

the 335 is simple and yes sony do better, but i think it does the job very well and it is commonly used in home cinemas setups, so it cant be bad!!

All right its not used really(i have only seen it used twice, when the client had a small budget of 20K) but , the quality is fantastic.

SONY!!

RE: Cyberhome AD-N 212

No, I don`t think so!!

thanks anyway!!

Cyberhome AD-N 212

Ok, got it home.

Couldnt stop laughing at the fact that there are no english instructions.

But I need to get my hands on some.

Its a present you see for my Grandad and i wouldnt want him getting all worried on how to use the damn thing.

Anyone fancy writing a bit out the machine??

Natasha

RE: The Cheapest DVD Player

I saw that deal with Britannia Music but you have to give at least 28 days for delivery and i wanted it for christmas.

Natasha

The Cheapest DVD Player

Am I right in thinking that the Cyber home ADN212 (Multi-Region) Is the cheapest DVD you can buy?

At Richer Sounds its £119.95.

Now for £120 you cant go wrong.

I am such a fool for paying £300 for a Sony DVP-S335 only 6 months ago!!

RE: Philips DVD711 - it is multi Region

I was speaking to goon at Richer Sounds and they are Multi-Region, but not sure what the hack is. I know its though the Remote.

I maybe going to see one, but they are like gold dust.

£179.95. Thats what richer Sounds want.

Sorry to keep going on about RS, but i am new to this.

RE: cyber home AD-N-212 anybody got one? any good/

I have just brought an ADN 212.

As long as it can play the matrix and the gladiator I dont care.

That may sound harsh but not for me, its for my Grandad, i am trying to knock him into the 21st century!!

I payed £112.95, Richer Sounds. (Staff are actually quite helpful and demo rooms are not as crap as i thought they might be!!)
