1) How much without the games?

2) How old is the console (I had RROD on my 20gb arcade)?

Had a similar problem, found out that it was temporary files let on the hard disk after I tried upgrading IE.

If you have access to another system take the hard drive out of the faulty machine, change it to a slave on another machine to have access to it.

Access the faulty drive using explorer, search the drive for *.tmp files, any that begin with a tilde mark (~) delete it. You can also try running the disk cleanup utility supplied by MS under the Accessories tab.

When you have completed the above remove the drive, change it back to a master drive and place it back into your machine and switch on.

Please note that this did fix my problem, but if yours` is a different issue this may not work, but on the other hand it will certainly not cause any damage.

I picked up one of these from Woolies Carlisle (their last one) at Christmas. I popped into the Birmingham Pallasades branch yesterday and noticed they had one on the top shelf above the DVD sales counter.

Their normal price is £45, remeber to ask them to price check it as it may have dropped even further.

Cheap xbox games.

I don`t know if anyone has mentioned that some Woolies now have an `Xbox Madness` section in them. It is a bit hit and miss on what is available and the prices, but so far I have picked up about ten games ranging in price from 1.99 to 7.99.
They also have TR Legend for 9..99 and half life 2 for 9.99.

I also got a vibrating game controller for 4.99. The two stores that I have seen these sections are Big W at off Sheffield Park Way and the Woolworths in the Pallasaides in Birmingham (above New Street station).

Be aware the price on the cover is not always the price you pay, take what you want to the check out and ask them to price check it, the guy must have been sick of me the other day doing this. Also, note that although some titles are on the shelf they may not be in the draws behind the counter.

I would appreciate a heads up if any one finds a reasonably prices DVD remote or the audio cables.

Spiderman 2 £4.99
Doom3 £7.99

Also poped into Game and they had Xbox with 3 games for under £70, they also had their Xbox games on BOGOF.

Yes it is, you only have to get a letter from your company and you can apply for a card. I did this informing them that I viewed it as a perk and they let me apply for a card straight away.

Bought a KOBE dvd player from Richer sounds, had a fault and contacted Kobe direct via website WWW.PGECO.com/support . Although teh Kobe website is not functional you can get a contact email address, the guy who responed to my emails was very prompt, replied within 1 hour of recieving mail. Long and short is that he offered to collect and replace the unit.

This may be worth a try for you guys.

Try this from another site

you can fix it by erasing the disk (eject disk, leave it on the open tray and long-press the clear button until the tray goes back into the unit).

After that, you need to record something in order to make it stick. I believe its worth a try.

I believe that this guy has pressed the make eidts compatible option.

I believe there is a way to undo this using a number on the remote and the stand by button just can`t remember what it is.
