Formatting dvd + rw
Can anyone help?
How do you format a dvd rw+ disc, my sony rdr gx3 won`t give me the option.
I originally formatted the disc in video mode, then after recording I finalised the disc so that I could watch the dvd on my laptop. Now I can`t even format the disc on my desktop let alone the recorder?
Didn`t think you had to format a +RW disc???
Video mode and VR mode are options with -RW,not +RW
No need to format DVD+R/W disks, as you can use them both for Data/Video.

RE: Formatting dvd + rw
you don`t need to pre-format a dvd+rw , it does it as you record
also you don`t need to finalise discs to play on your laptop, you only need to do
this for stand-alone dvd players.
You don`t finalise +RWs at all, the menu system (unlike +Rs which do have to be finalised) is fully compatible with the DVD standard, so should be playable on anything capable of playing DVDs.

RE: Formatting dvd + rw
What I really want to do is record over the previous recording, and I can`t?????
You can - you choose the erase disc option and then you can record on it again
RE: Formatting dvd + rw
That is the problem, I am not being offered `the erase disc option`?
OK, and please excuse me if these seem obvious and you`ve already checked, but I`ve made these mistakes myself
1-Are you sure it`s an erasable (i.e-Re-Writable) disc?
2.Are you sure it the right format (+RW not -RW or vice versa)?
3. Have you read the manual on how to erase-sometimes the erase feature is hidden in a menu you don`t expect, or on one you need to scroll down to get to)
