RE: The Official Star Wars Trilogy Thread - all others will be closed !

Just a quick question.. in the boxset .. are the films in invidual amary`s so the spines match with Episodes 1 and 2 or is it some rubbish `Special Edition` packaging?

RE: Derren Brown Seance

I think he is a very clever man, he just uses, hypnosis and a range of other skills to control people. He can cleverly read the signs of people who are lying, or trying to be decptive. Its not rocket science, its just something that takes lots of pratice, reading up, and just interacting with people. Obviously the folks last night were hypnotised at some point (maybe without them knowing.), and he just used key phrases to get them back under.

All very clever stuff

All in One Remotes.. HELP

Hello!

I`m looking for a remote that will control my, telly, video, dvd, sky and Sony Home Cinema Amp. Will most of them do this (I`m guessing not all of them do the Amps?). And has anyone got any recommendations.

RE: HELP! Mortgages - Life Insurance/Assurance Etc...

Yep have a kiddy - Surely Critical illness covers only something like Cancer, or HIV or whatever - honestly.. what are the chances of you getting one of those in the next few years?

I`m not worried aboot the mortgage as I know I got a good deal.. I just didn`t want to be ripped off with the insurance if i`m allowed to buy elsewhere.

HELP! Mortgages - Life Insurance/Assurance Etc...

Going through the process of buying a house, mortgage was arranged an independant finacial advisor, and he sold us some Life Insurance, Critical Illness cover, Job loss cover (etc)... Now.. looking back, and looking at the figures, a) I`m not sure what is the bare minimum we need, and b) The prices don`t seem very competative compared to others and c) Do we HAVE to use the company he tried to sign us to (Legal and General). We are on a tight tight budget as it is, and I don`t want to be paying over the odds, or for something we don`t need. We`re pretty certain that we don`t need critical illness, were both young, fit, and have no history of critical illness in the family.

Can anyone shed any light onto this rather daunting area.

Cheers

Javascript menu - Need a flashier one!!

Hello All

I`m in the process of designing our companies new website - all is going nicely, but theres a small problem, the menu - we have a horizontal menu running accross the page, with obviously some options to pick. Currently when you mouse over some of the options you get a drop down with more options. Now the current script I have the drop down just appears.. My lovely boss has decided he wants it to sweep down and open, rather than just appear.

I have a good look on Google for a free menu script, but its seems theres nothing that quite fits the bill.. I`ve found one but that has real issues in IE5 - which I think a lot of people still have

HELP!!

RE: I`ve just asked to be banned from the DVD Forums

Ahhhhhhh.. The DVDForums... I used to be a regular on there, I asked to be removed because I really didn`t like the way it was run, specially when CarlP left (and then came back I think). Reading the T`s and C`s of it now make me chuckle, it clearly shows the author obviously takes power all to seriously. Theres hardly any rules here, and to be honest 99% of the time the conversations that go on are fine, adult and mature no matter how many times we say Feck, Bum, and Boobies ;)

Well except in the Region hacks forum

`I HAZ A PiOnEer 1xxx - CN SOm1 eMIL me a HaX0r`

RE: Sky £65 callout charge

Similar thing happened to me recently during the storms we had - my sky died. I rang Sky - couldn`t even get through to a human being. So I found a local satellite engineer who came and sorted the problem for £38 for me.

Bargain

RE: all in one printers

I got a cheep Lexmark - been very happy with it. Cartridges whilst pricey lasted me over 6 months, and that was wih lots of photo quality printouts.

RE: Alton Towers?

Alton are not doing as many promotions this year on days out - they are trying to be a resort (with the 2 hotels and a rumoured 3rd to be on its way). So you`ll prolly find they do more `Cheap Hotel offers` this year. Chessy and Thorpe will probably do lots of vouchers - although Chessington is doing a `Kids go Free with every full paying adult` - its not an offer, its a full time thing.

RE: Cheap Cube PC Base Units

Cheap Cube PC Base Units

I`m looking to transfer down to a cube PC, by getting the guts out of my existing PC (Athlon XP2000 Processor, Memory, DVD Writer) etc and sticking them in a cube. Can anyoone point me in the direction of a dirt cheap Socket A cube PC base unit? doesn`t have to be the prettiest. Just nice and cheap :)

RE: What do you do for a living - and what would you like to do for a living...?

I work for a small furniture company, as its a small company i do lots of different jobs - I plan office spaces in 3D in Autocad, I maintain the IT within the company, design all our brochures and flyers and am working on our new e-commerce website. Phew.

I love my job - partly cos I do so much, and secondly cos we have a great team. I only wish I got a bit more for it. I used to work in IT Support - but when the IT job market crashed a few years back I decided to go for less IT related work and something more enjoyable.

RE: Will mortgages change??

Well.. a smallish two bed house around here is aboot £140K - Which is just out of out of our reach - so we`ve had to go for a two bed flat. Its the only real way we can get our feet on the property ladder, and at least it`ll be ours.

Will mortgages change??

I was thinking - in a very dull moment - will mortgages ever change?? The old system of multiples seems very archaic, with house prices increasing, but wages not, no one can buy. Will we see `affordability` looked at more - whether you can actually pay the repayments, or maybe mortgages over a longer period of time. I`m really not sure if anything will change - and they`ll be more and more 35 year olds living at home with their parents (no offense to any that are).

Discuss!

Wireless Networking and Video senders

Is there any way to have both running at the same time?? I cant use them both at the moment - i get interferance on the telly, and the wireless network stops.. is there any easy way around this?

Kip

Sound proofing in a flat.

As our first step onto the `property ladder` we`ve just bought a little first floor flat, really nice little place. But i`m worried about my speakers.. my two front left and rights are floorstanding. I just wondered if theres any kindof matting, or something like that, I can use to dampen the vibrations to the floor. I don`t want to upset our new neighbours as I know too well how depressing noisy neighbours can be.

RE: Parcel2go sux

Hmmm.. I think they use Securicor - so if the local Securicor sucks like my former local one did, then the smooth service often screws up.

RE: What other forums do you post in(if any)?

I post - and indeed moderate on www.jammplus.com/forums - A lovely and friendly arcade collectors forum.

Yay for Richer Sounds

I went to my local (ish) Richer Sounds store on Saturday - I was very impressed - lots of cheap AV equipment and plenty of friendly happy staff. I came away with a bargain Gale Moviestar 3 speaker set (birthday present from the missus) and some lovely thick speaker cable. Now all I need is my lovely new amp and a shiny subwoofer!

But - YAY for Richer

RE: BBC best british sitcom

I think its a sheer travesty that blummin Vicar of Dibley got so far - its okay but honestly its not THAT good.

Good Life should have got higher :(

Would this be Accidental Damage?

Evening`

Babies - don`t you just love them? ;) My little girl was sitting playing on my wifes lap whilst she was doing some work on her laptop - Then the baby promptly decided to vomit everywhere!! A lot of sick seeped into the keys and now the laptop works - but its acting as though the Alt key is held down. I`ve put it in the airing cupboard now to hopefully dry up any sick that might be casuing troubles. But if it doesn`t sort it then I wondered if this thing is classed as accidental damage on the home contents insurance? We really can`t afford a new lappy - and i`ve no idea how much summat like this would be to fix.

Any one able to help?
