RE: Your Scariest Childhood film???????????

Quatermass and the pit - That big head in the sky
Don`t look now - freak gran in a red coat
Don`t be afraid of the dark - eerie dwarfs living in chimneys
Doctor Who - John Pertwee`s face in the title screen
The Fly (original) - I must admit to wetting myself (literally) when watching this when I was a nipper. Basically I was too scared to get up and go to the toilet in the dark, so I suffered the indignity of sitting in my own pee as an alternative.

RE: SPLASHDVD OUT OF BUSINESS

I tried ordering from Splash twice, and on both occassions cancelled my orders after waiting for over 6 weeks for the DVD`s to arrive, so good riddance to bad rubbish.

RE: How easy is it to string an electric guitar?

Richard - have you tried boiling your strings. I played bass in a band a few years ago, and preffered a very bright sound so the boiling works fine a couple of times, I can assure you, then it`s off to the music shop for new ones, I`m afraid .Incidently, on average, music shops bump their strings up by about 300%, the slags.

US Car Hire

Is it possible to have a USA resident rent a car on your behalf and nominate you as the driver?
When booking a minivan on the Alamo website, UK residents are charged £538, whereas for the same van, US residents are charged $435!

RE: Who`s who in music videos?

Page 3 girl Jim - Natasha, I think

RE: How easy is it to string an electric guitar?

macdaddy - a lot of companies now do starter packs, consisting of a guitar, 20 watt (ish) practice amp with strap, pleccy and lead - all you need really to get you on your way.
As for buying a book, there`s so much you can get on the net, I don`t really know if it would be worth it, but a basic chord book is always a good start.

Who`s who in music videos?

Does anyone know of an internet movie database style website for music videos?
Sadly IMDB doesn`t appear to include these in an actors listings.

Or, if someone knows whether the `disappearing man` in the God put a smile...
Coldplay video is Paddy Considine (A Room for Romeo Brass) or not, would be equally appreciated.

RE: Would you / did you bid for Rosie Reid?

slapper - sorry, slip of the fingers: slap her!

Anyway, isn`t this prostitution?

RE: How easy is it to string an electric guitar?

Rich - just a wee tip
Allow for a couple of windings around the tuning peg - the extra grip will help your guitar stay in tune better.
Then again you might have a locking top nut?

RE: Early contender for album of 2004.........

Try Effloresce, the debut album from Oceansize - released, I think in September last year. A bloody splendid album, that hasn`t been away from my ears since Chrimbo!

RE: Cr@p music in the charts

The basic frustration that all serious musicians have gone through for the last few decades I`m afraid! Chart music, for the most part, will always be sh#te.
I`ve often wished that I did like your average chart rubbish, and by that I mean, the top ten in music, TV, films, books etc - just think how easily entertained you would be. You could switch on any channel, pick up any rag or buy all you`re dvd`s from poundland, and you`d be as happy as a pig in sh#t.

RE: After a CC which does 1% cash back

Try looking at www.thisismoney.com
they have a great credit card comparison section.

RE: IMDB`s Trivia/Goofs sections... anyone successfully submitted?

Quote:
The Doctor was reading a copy of the Daily Mail on a Sunday morning

No. He was reading that days headlines - ie, the gruesome murders commited by David the night before.

RE: Recommend some Region 2 films for great surround sound?

I`ve watched a few films (but can`t remember the titles like the fool I am) where the Dobly Digital advert at the beginning is the best thing (sound wise) on the whole disc!

Videos`s with more extras than the DVD

Anyone have any?
I have the Natural Born Killers Directors cut (NTSC) which has a bonus video by Rob Zombie which featured on the soundtrack.
Also, the Alien Trilogy box set that was released eons ago, in the presentation face hugger box contains a trailer for the Alien War `experience` at the Trocadero Centre in London.
Incidently, on the subject of Alien War - did anyone go?
Went myself and I sh*t a brick. I thought I would play it safe and stay at the back. Little did I know that we would change direction at the height of the chase, which resulted in yours truly running straight into one of the Aliens! All through the `ride` myself and my mate were saying, ` It`s only a couple of blokes in rubber suits, so why are we running like scared girls?` Ah the joys of a wasted youth and a vivid imagination!

RE: IMDB`s Trivia/Goofs sections... anyone successfully submitted?

I tried to submit a goof from American werewolf in London - The Doctor was reading a copy of the Daily Mail on a Sunday morning (and as we all know the DM is a weekly paper) - And the film was made about 2 or 3 years before the launch of the Mail On Sunday.
It was never posted!

RE: Am I being naive?

Ditto
A thirst for knowledge is a dying trend it would seem.

RE: Am I being naive?

A sad reflection on the ever increasing ignorance of the general public Alan.
Ask them who won the last big brother and I`m sure there would be a good show of hands I`m sure.

RE: SO WHAT FILMS HAVE YOU GOT ON VHS,BUT HAD TO GO AND BUY THE DVD TOO??

Consumer Monkeys, aren`t we all!

VHS - DVD
Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas
The Young Ones 1&2
The Crow
Alien
Aliens
Alien 3
Red Hot Chili Peppers - What Hits
American Werewolf in London
Conan The Barbarian
The Thing
Withnail And I
Poltergeist
The Castle
Pulp Fiction

RE: Ally MacLeod Dead

Oscar, I hope you`re not an England fan, for as we all know, the English are behind their team and manager 100% - all the time!

Football is a mean old game: from zero to hero and back to to zero in no time at all.

Allow people to pass on their condolences and calm down.

RE: Its Saturday Night/Sunday Morning! What films have you been watching!

Alien Quadrilogy - Alien extras - My arm is sore shaking that stick!

Hulk, for the first time! - I must say I was pleasantly surprised with this film. IMHO it wipes the floor with X-Men 1, 1.5 and 2 & Spiderman.

RE: Ally MacLeod Dead

Goan yerself Ally!

RIP

RE: Bloody sacrilege!!!!!

As for J lo and her theiving of the theme from Miidnight Cowboy and that god awful Boogie pimps effort, in the words of My dear old Mum in law, " I can`t get my breath! "

RE: What have you been banned/repremanded for?

I was barred from my local about 10 years ago after myself and a friend had `etched ` the word C*NT in 15ft letters on the newly seeded lawn of the beer garden.
Beer and youth - not a very good combination!

RE: Credit card fraud

It could be an honest mistake. I know banks aren`t supposed to accept balance transfers from anyone else`s card but your own, but believe me, they do, and remember, all transactions of this nature are keyed in by scroats like you and me, so all it takes is 1 keying error and you end up with someone elses debt.
The bank should have a copy of the credit card cheque, and assuming you haven`t mislaid your credit card cheque book, all should be well (in a week)

RE: Credit card fraud

We had a spate recently at our local Asda store of card numbers being duplicated at the Nat West ATM machine. A work colleague was screwed for £2000, but was able to prove he was at work when the money was debited. He was credited the whole amount.

On another note, we accepted a stolen card number at work for a £1500 sale, to which the (un)lucky owner of the card was given a full refund, whilst we were stuck with a charge back.

RE: Films they should make

ebony branch - Most certainly Dark Knight,Sandman and Hellblazer.
Haggis - I do believe Danny Boyle is looking to do a screen adaptation of Porno - Can`t wait to see Juice Terry bought to life! Aprently he`s trying to get the original cast from Trainspotting too. With any luck Ewen McGregor`s fee will be too high this time around.

RE: Films they should make

V For Vendetta and or The Watchmen - Alan Moore graphic novels (V was rumoured to be in the pipeline for the Wachowski Bros but that all seems to have gone very quiet)
