RE: Projector Screen

You can use Dulux icestorm 6 which is a very light grey paint, this does give quite a good picture, it will also help slightly on the nlack levels.
You can also use Goo, which takes the screen into a different league, but then the prices are in a different league to Ice Storm 6.

Because I thought it when they meant forced, I thought it meant the french subs were literally burnt on to the film print.

They are not burnt onto the film itself but are forced by the dvd, with toshiba and pioneer you put the disc in to play as normal then stop the disc and go directly into the settings menu and select subtitles to off, you then remain in the settings menu and chapter select, say chpt 1, this should then take you directly into the film with no subtitles 8) . the term forced in this sense means that you simply cannot just select subtitles to off whilst the movie is playing this simply doesnt work, it doesnt with my pioneer, the above method however does work hence why i got the french version of casino due to the dts soundtrack.

You should be able to remove the forced French subs from Flash Gordon if you have either a pioeer or toshiba dvd player and if they are forced in the same way as Casino and other French dvds.

I have the French version of Casino which i brought for the DTS track and excellent packaging and the subs are forced but can be removed by my pio dvd player.

Clayts, whilst i was over there i didnt see your hypothetical situation all i saw was all the smokers respecting the ban and smoking outside. I enjoy going to pubs and clubbing etc but in ireland without the smke it was really very good. In the clubs there was not the hover of smoke that you see in England and it was nice to actually have fresher air. I dont smoke unless i have had a skinful and my mates offer me a cigarette so could say biased to this law. My mates however who do smoke did smoke far less in that weekend and agreed that they actaully felt better for it. They were very wary of the ban before we went, but very encouraged after.
There is a 3k euro fine for anyone smoking in a pub but i cannot remember if this is the culprit or the landlord. Even in the more rural parts did we not see one person abusing the ban.

I hope they ban it as soon as possible, i was in ireland two weeks ago and it does make such a great difference to how you feel when you get up the next day. Lungs didnt feel tight and clothes didnt smell. Even the smokers amongst our group preffered it and want it to happen in England.

I will buy them although i do hate the Gredo shooting first scene, i mean a bounty hunter missing from a few feet. I hate the song at the end of return of the jedi, i really liked the orginal song but the new version is aweful. The reason that i will buy them is that for me the benefits far out weigh the negatives i mean proper 5.1 sound when those tie fighters rush by and the thump of the imperial walkers excellent for hopefully getting the sub rumbling.

The last time i went was 96 with a few mates and it was excellent value, hotel food was not really up to much but outside the hotel the food was excellent and very cheap, beer was also cheap. Ski instructor was great Toddor i think his name was, he also had his own ski do and used to let us all take turns to drive round on it. We used to see him in the nightclubs so went drinking with him needless to say we were all rough on the following days!! The only problem was if there want much snow there was no snow machine so you used to have to go higher into the mountains, but so did everybody else. I couldnt ski when i was out there but picked it up fairly well as there are some very good beginner runs.

I brought, Fish Called Wanda, Great Escape, Fargo and Magnificent Seven. Was tempted with Robocop as well as i love that film but i already own the Criterion Edition so just couldn`t justify it?

Vertigo or Rear Window you will be more than happy with, Vertigo is great the first time you see it but i am not that sure of its rewatch value where as for me Rear Window has a higher rewatch value.

Whats NTSC Judder?? I have never noticed this on my R1 DVDs which i play via NTSC progressive out. If they are similar priced then I for one will definitely be going for the R1 version no PAL speed up and uncut.

Chris i had a Denon 2800II and this had a buffer but the layer change was not seamless you could tell when it changed, it was very very quick though, but then again that probably wasnt a layer change but just maybe the player up to its usual tricks.

This is not the new one but it is the same as the original R2 release, albeit 5 discs they are all DVD18s i.e double sided and dual layered and at well over half the price of the new release it is far more value for money in my opinion, this is the set that i have. I did pay £60 for the R1 version as i could not justify spending an extra £50 or there abouts for the new set that only has one extra disc of extras and a fax!

Could be Smokey and the Bandit which also stars Burt Reynolds, they have to get a truck full of beer over state lines in a certain time and includes a truck and transam. Good film an old favourite of mine.

Ste, didnt send anything just a letter and the print out of my account and i was quite surprised that two days later or so i got two new disks and a letter stating that this now settles the issue. I do now have two disks of bttf 2 & 3, i have done a comparison between them and there really are noticable differences between the framing.

eforeg i got my bttf set from cd wow but didnt keep my email receipt so i just printed a copy of my account history and sent that to them with a letter stating that was my receipt and two days later i received the two disks. They are definitely Region 2 disks as they have the bbfc certification on them which are different to the ones i originally had in the box set which must have been for the Australian market.

I wouldnt doubt Choices they are an excellent and genuine retailer, if you scan through Plays dvds you will see anomalies i.e they state Goldfinger has dolby 5.1? my special edition certainly doesn`t! Play are correct on the Godfather but i would imagine Choices have just entered the details wrong. I have just ordered the bond tin boxset from Choices and it doesnt say tin set in the description but one quick call to them clarrified that it was indeed the tin set, very happy!!

I got mine today and have sampled some scenes the differences are large, in particular on no.2 where marty mcfly drys his jacket. If you do a side by side comparison you will instantly bin your old disks!!

Have to agree with all of the above they are a menace, especially the school run brigade and fat exec brigade that have them. These things are supposed to be designed to go off road so why is it when you are behind one and the driver see`s a puddle they slow down to a snails pace to go through it? and when one is coming towards you and again they see a puddle they swerve out of the way of the puddle over to your side of the road, dont figure. Most of the drivers that own these also think they own the road, how many people have been tail gated by one of these on the motorway especially the fat exec brigade with their Vogue/Anniversary Range Rovers with blacked out windows?

I got Deer Hunter pretty cheap ages ago from Ezydvd so should recoup my funds from ebay to purchase this two disk set, i hope. I think that i might wait a few months though until this new set falls in price again.

I got a real taste for this when i was in America last November and was delighted to see a Virgin Cola version a few months ago but it just wasnt the same far to sweet. I am so glad that Coca Cola have bought their version out in England as i think it tastes fantastic, i prefer the diet version though

I really hope this is a definitive version, i also cannot wait for the Dawn of the Dead sold my two disk dutch version on ebay a while back, to get premium money for it, as soon as i heard about the three disk version. Hopefully the coming dvd releases will totally rock and do these excellent films justice.

Floyd i totally agree but if i want a newer version of a film i just put it on ebay where a lot of my dvds have recouped about 80% of their value back, some i have even made a profit on!!. Anyway now i have seen your thread looks like scarface is going on ebay so i can replace it with the newer version, cant wait, awesome film which deserves a good dvd release.

Wayne 118 years hey, and i thought i was bad with 98 years and £9500 fine. Now what do i need to do for another 20 years on my sentence!!
