RE: Clerks X 10th anniversary 3 disc set R1 £10.99 (or less)

Hi, I would also like to get this, but before I do could someone tell me it CDWOW stocks the US release from Miramax/Buena Vista, or the slightly uglier Canadian release from alliance atlantis?

Thanks :)

Patlabor & Patlabor 2 R2 UK anamorphic ?

Anyone know if the recent R2 UK release of the anime movies Patlabor & Patlabor 2 is anamorphic widescreen? Hope someone out there who has bought this could shed some light on this.

Thanks

RE: Fight Club R1 has exclusive commentaries

The R4 is NOT just the same as the R1!!!! The R1 2-disc edition has THREE additional audio commentaries + a deleted scene that are NOT present on the R4 (or R2).

So if you want the best version try to find the R1 2-disc version

RE: Humphrey Bogart DVDs - which ones to get?

A new R1 special edition of Casablanca has been announced for later this year so I wouldn`t get the barebones release if I were you.

Also Key Largo is a grate film. It`s available as a barebones release in both R1 and R2.

RE: Blackadder`s Christmas Carol - cut.

Hi guys, I checked out my R1 Disk of Black Adder the Third from the box set and here`s a transcript from the scene in question:

Ebenezer Black Adder: "Weren`t the children upset?"
Mr Baldrick: "Nah they loved it, they want us to do another one at Easter. They wanna se us nail up the dog."
Ebenezer Black Adder: "Ahh the playful young scamps eh?"

So It appears that R1is uncut, right?

RE: "Amadeus" 2 disc set?

If you guys really want a R2 version of Amadeus SE just order it from one of the other European countries like Holland, France or Scandinavia where it is readily available. BTW then you`ll get it in a nice double Amaray instead of a dodgy cardboard digipack.

RE: DVDs from Momentum Pictures

I own both the graduate and the elephant man "directors chair editions" from momentum and NONE came with chapter inserts. However they did each come with a 58-page book, which was grate. Actually I had to buy elephant man twice to get the book cuz the first one I bought didn`t have it.

RE: Does anyone have any vouchers for CDWOW.COM?

Actually, it does seem to be slightly cheaper to go through this page with prices in $. http://www2.cd-wow.net/detail_results_2.php?product_code=4197

Because of the exchange rate I suppose.

Thanks for the help though

Does anyone have any vouchers for CDWOW.COM?

Seem to remember seeing a couple cdwow! vouchers somewhere. Could someone point me in the right direction?
Thanks

RE: Danish dvd Websites

These are Danish:
http://www.proshop.dk/proshop/varegruppeForside.asp?kategori=40
http://www.dvdon.com/
http://www.dvdstrax.com/

FYI 99% of all Danish DVD releases are identical all over Scandinavia, therefore it might be a good idea to also try these stores:

http://www.dvdsverige.com/index.asp
http://www.akersmic.no/dvd/

www.dvdon.com should be the cheapest, but it depends on where in the world you are ordering from.

RE: Hang on in there for Goldbox offers!!!!

I got star trek season 2 for $82 in my gold box today. Don't know if this is a good deal though and besides I'm not much of a sci-fi fan. But it's a nice change from power tools.

RE: Disneys `The Black Hole`! Any ideas when its out?

The german R2 is anamorphic and has DD 5.1 english audio. R1 is non-anamorphic. So if I wanted this movie on DVD I would defiantly consider getting it "sausage side"

RE: Walt Disney Treasures??

I bought "Mickey Mouse in living colour" and "Silly symphonies" when they came out.
They are both very good compilations, if not totally complete. (Only about half of the 70 silly symphonies that were made are included. But some of the omitted ones are available as extras on other Disney DVDs)
For detail reviews just do a search in http://www.dvd-basen.dk

Walt Disney Treasures are only available in R1 and the first four boxes have already been taken out of print and are becoming hard to find in many stores. So if I where you I`d get them while you can.

By the way: three more releases will be out in December.

RE: Beauty & the Beast shipping from dvdimport.com!

I`m just glad the cover is in english even though it a canadian release

RE: The Complete Black Adder DVD Boxed Set

Picture quality is slightly better on R1 than R2 for the first 4 seasons, but this is only because R2 is so totally crap. Back and forth is better on R2.

Like I said getting the first 4 disks on R1 is the way to go.

RE: Delivery times - what`s the longest period taken?

Deer hunter Danish/Finnish/Norwegian/Swedish has 5.1 remix and anamorphic transfer

RE: The Complete Black Adder DVD Boxed Set

Hi I have bought the 5 disks R1 box set and R1 does indeed offer lots of extra interviews and background material not present on R2.

Each and every disk in the set has:

A# "who`s who in Black Adder" A feature which is basically a text base extra which is read out loud by Tony Robinson (as Baldrick) This gives filmographies and bios for the actors in the show. There is of course some overlapping in this info between the discs.
B# "What`s what": A text-based guide (read by Tony Robinson), which explains obscure real life English historical references to stupid Americans. This is quite informative and fun. This is unique for each disk
C# trailers

However the R1 disk 5 with Back and Forth is pan & scan instead of anamorphic wide screen like R2. So therefore I recommend buying the R2 version of Back and Forth.

As for the rest of the R1 box set, actually the box doesn`t contain ANY different stuff compared to the R1 single disk releases so my recommendation is:

"The Black Adder" Disk 1: buy R1 as it has all six episodes of Season 1, Karaoke + extras A and B
"Black Adder II" Disk 2 buy the single R1 as it has all six episodes of Season 2 and interviews + extras A and B
"Black Adder The third" Disk 3 the single R1 buy as it has all six episodes of Season 3 and interviews and the comic relief special "The cavalier years" + extras A and B
"Black Adder goes Fourth " Disk 4 buy the single R1 as it has all six episodes of Season 3 and interviews and the xmas special "Black Adders Christmas carol" + extras A and B
"Back and forth" Disk 5: buy R2 as it has the show in 16X9 plus the same behind the scenes special as on R1. Also it has subtitles

CDWOW has all these R1 disks for £11.99 each.

The only bad thing about R1 is that sadly there are no subtitles whatsoever.

Conclusion: buy discs 1-4 R1, disk 5, R2.
By the way, buying the discs individual means you wont get stung by customs (like I was when i bought the R1 box)

Hope this is helpful

RE: Beauty & the Beast shipping from dvdimport.com!

Subtitle faults? Can you clarify? Do you mean that the subs are not remote selectable from the subtitle button on the remote? Or is there something wrong with the implementation or the actual wording of the subtitle? Also is the packaging dodgy French bilingual or plain English (like snow white)?

Thanks, I`m looking forward to receiving my copy of this title and completing my Disney DVD collection ;)

RE: Clerks for £7.99

the R4 from CDWOW is pan&scan and with crap picture quality!

Dont get It

Beauty & the Beast shipping from dvdimport.com!

According to my account info Beauty & the beast 2DVD platinum ED was shipped today from dvdimport.com!

Its not supposed to be available until October 8. Although shipping usually takes forever for them so it`ll still be some time till it reaches my door I still should have it in my hands before oct. 8. (Knock on wood)

It was extremely cheap though only about $15.79 (shipping is free)

RE: Watch out we`re mad - on dvd ever?

regarding Altrimenti ci arrabbiamo (Watch Out We`re Mad)

Bud Spencer`s films are pretty popular here in Scandinavia but I`m not quite sure if this has been released on DVD yet. Check out these links.

Danish web shop:
http://www.dvdoo.com/dvdoo/actor.asp?Command=3930

Or this Swedish one
http://www.dvdsverige.com/P_Search.asp?category0=DVD&FastField=Terence+Hill&FastSearch=S&x=8&y=3

Or this Norwegian one
http://www.akersmic.no/trade/search/?Type=10&Query=Bud+Spencer&x=13&y=9

(All these DVDs are with English audio and removable subs.)

If that fails this US site seems to sell the VHS version:

Hope this is helpful :)

Twin Peaks season 1 coming to region 2 UK November

TP season 1 will be released on R2 DVD in UK on 4. November. The discs will reportedly be the same as the German release, which contains the original pilot. http://www.playserver3.com/play247.asp?page=title&r=R2&title=107802

The same releases will be available in Norway and Denmark on October 9.

The second season will be released in two separate boxes in early 2003.

RE: Do CDWOW declare the contents value on The Sopranos boxsets?

CDWOW are grate when it comes to stating price on the packages.
I have ordered about 10 discs from them and all have had the customs friendly price of 14.99£ on the package, regardless of their real cost. Recently I ordered sopranos season 1 and 2 (in separate orders of course) and each arrived with a value of 19.99£ on them (they actually cost 33,99£ each)

So CDWOW get big thumbs up from me. Only bad thing is that they source their discs from Canada and they have a very small selection of DVD`s on offer. However they are very often the cheapest with the discs they do have.

RE: R1 pulp fiction CE, Jackie Brown CE canadian?

So, have anyone received these titles yet from a Canadian retailer like cdwow?

I

How to take screenshots from DVDs on my PC?

I usually don`t watch DVD`s on my computer but I was writing a review the other day and thought it might be a good thing to have some screenshots in there
How do I take a screenshot from a DVD on a computer?
Will I have to get some new software for this or is this something all software players are capable of?
Right now I`m using software called winDVD on my pc (yeah I know its probably crap but it came free with my PC.) Sorry if this is a stoopid question but after all I am just a DVD buff, computer software is not my forte.

Thanks

Quote of the day:
Mr. Horse:, (to Ren and Stimpy): "Alright, so I made a mistake! Can`t a man start over?
Do I have to keep on paying? Huh?! Maybe I should make another mistake? Maybe two more?!!", while the walrus whispers a poignant plea: "Call the police!".

R1 pulp fiction CE, Jackie Brown CE canadian?

Has anyone received R1 pulp fiction CE or Jackie brown CE from a Canadian retailer like cdwow etc?

The reason I`m asking it that I have bought several DVDs from Canadian sites that turned out to be different than the US releases.

Recently new legislation was passed in Canada requiring DVDs to have French language covers. And disks from universal like mulholland drive, and the man who wasn`t there have different covers in Canada. Also fire walk with me and most New Line releases.

Can anyone who have bought these disks from cdwow, futureent, dvdboxoffice, dvdimport, or play.com confirm if Pulp F and Jackie B have dodgy Canadian covers and/or different content or if they are identical to the US releases
Any info appreciated. Thanks

Braindead R2 UK

Braindead was just released in the UK and play sell it for just 8.99£ however I`m sure most of you, like me would like to know if its uncut and also if its anamorphic before ordering.

I hope someone can drop a few lines in the forum if they have already picked up the disc.
I know that the UK VHS was completely uncut so I`m hoping the same is true for the DVD

Any info appreciated

RE: ONCE UPON A TIME IN AMERICA Region 1 released on 20th August

Once upon a time in America was shown in cinemas in 1.85:1 WS
It was not made in 2.35:1 WS - futureent.com`s listing is a misprint.
Lets hope that the region 1 release turns out to be in the original aspect and anamorphic

As for the different cuts available ill let IMDB.com clarify:

"Italian original version of the film is 236 minutes long. The US distributor cut over an hour and a half for the 139 minutes American version; after much critical protest, the film was shown on network TV in a 192 minutes cut and finally was made available in an almost complete 227 version on video (which reportedly still omits segments from the scene where Robert De Niro rapes Elizabeth McGovern)."

I believe that the Brazilian release is the 227 min release. Most likely the R1 release will be the same cut of the film. I guess we`ll have to wait till august 30th for final confirmation.
I do however think it`s kind of weird that amazon.com doesn`t have this DVD available on preorder.

Once upon a time in America: coming July 17th!

Once upon a time in America is released in the UK this Wednesday according to play.com http://www.play.com/play247.asp?page=title&r=R2&title=104730

Sadly it says that it's in full screen but I'm hoping that it's a misprint and that it's anamorphic, or at least 4/3 letterbox

Got my fingers crossed..

Update: The Name Of The Rose is also being released the same day, in widescreen.
hmm, i wonder if these will be the same as the brazilian releases?
