Synopsis:
Monty Python delivered a scathing, anarchic satire of both religion and Hollywood`s depiction of all things biblical with their third film The Life of Brian. The setting is Judea 33 A.D., a time of poverty and chaos, with no shortage of messiahs, followers willing to believe in them, and exasperated Romans trying to impose some order.

At the centre of it all is Brian Cohen (Graham Chapman), a reluctant would-be messiah who rises to prominence as a result of absurd and truly hilarious circumstances providing ample opportunity for the Python team (John Cleese, Eric Idle, Terry Gilliam, Terry Jones, Michael Palin, and Chapman) to shine in multiple roles as they mock everyone and everything from ex-lepers, Pontius Pilate, and the art of haggling to crazy prophets, Roman centurions, and crucifixion.

Your Opinions and Comments

7 / 10
The picture quality is very good throughout. There is quite a lot of grain on the print but this is probably due to the Eastman stock it was originally filmed on. The sound is fairly good although there isn`t much in the way of directional or surround effects.

Extras include a trailer and a excellent 50 minute documentary The Pythons. Made at the time of the film`s release, this looks back at the Python`s career and also the filming of Life Of Brian.

Overall, this is a comedy classic which everyone must own. While this disc is not as good as the US Criterion disc, it`s much better then Paramount`s abysmal disc. Plus it`s only £12.99.
