Review of Emmanuelle 3: Goodbye Emmanuelle

    5 / 10

    Introduction

Emmanuelle 3, aka "Goodbye Emmanuelle", was the last of the original trilogy and was intended to be the end of the line for Emmanuelle - until Alain Siritsky took over the franchise.

Made in 1977, Goodbye Emmanuelle is the most glossy of the early films and like its predecessors is simply a loosely-scripted excuse for much nudity in glamorous locations.

Unlike the original, there is far less misyogyny aimed at the heroine who continues her amorous adventures in exotic climes.

    Video

Presented in lush, anamorphic 2.35:1, Goodbye Emmanuelle is a glossier-looking product than its predecessors. Picture quality is excellent. The image is sharp, clear and well-contrasted. Colours are vibrant without being overpowering. Print wear and tear is minimal and Studiocanal have gone out of their way to provide a top quality master.

    Audio

The soundtracks offered are all Dolby Digital Mono in French, English, German, Spanish and Italian.

    Features

Subtitles in all the soundtrack languages plus Turkish. There`s also a trailer that consists of a droning French chanteuse warbling "Emmanuelle, Emmanuelle, Emmanuelle. Goodbye" while the words "Goodbye" and "Emmanuelle" pop up on a black screen. If you hadn`t guessed, the movie is called "Goodbye Emmanuelle."

    Conclusion

More softcore eyecandy from the 1970`s. I`d say this would only appeal to somebody on a nostalgia trip or a collector of the movies. There`s little to excite the modern viewer.
