Drink!

7 / 10

Introduction

They were an odd couple who travelled through France in a classic Jaguar convertible and drove around California in a massive motor home in order to sample the best wines the sunshine state had to offer. And they bickered all the way. One's a seasoned wine connoisseur, the other a less cultured beer drinking, car fanatic. But while wine expert Oz Clarke and Top Gear's James May might be unlikely travelling companions, their last two journeys proved a hit with BBC viewers and now they're back on home turf, travelling the length and breadth of the UK in an attempt to find a drink that defines Britain.

This time they travel in a classic Rolls Royce convertible and a tow an ancient Sprite caravan along for the journey. The series was first broadcast on BBC 2 in January/February 2009.

Video and Audio

Sadly, once again reviewers get a short straw. A single DVD-R with just two episodes on. I know I'm always whining about this, but there's not much point sending that out is there? I've watched those two episodes on telly already so this DVD-R seems a bit pointless.

You get a 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer and a DD2.0 stereo soundtrack as first broadcast.

Extra Features

No idea I'm afraid.

Conclusion

I've enjoyed watching this series so far. Whilst the two presenters are always moaning at each other and bantering all the time, it makes for good TV since they are both passionate and in the know on their subject. And they get to visit some great areas of Britain (and Ireland too) along the way.

If you enjoyed the TV series then you might like to watch it again. Sadly I can't really tell you if this DVD is the ideal way to do that since I don't have enough information with which to make an informed judgement to pass on to you.
