Mmmm.... The K800i is just an upgraded variant of the K750i - all it had was a superb autofocus 2 megapixel camera. Apart from that, call quality was average and it didnt pick up signals in weak signal areas (I work in a building clad with metal so have a lot of problems with coverage). If the K800i (with a 3.2 megapix) is similar - you would face the same problems again.

The N80 on the other hand is currently suffering from software bugs (not to say the K800i isn`t). Nevertheless, it has a better and bigger screen, better multimedia capabilities, 3G, a 3 megapix camera and the ability to surf using wifi, not to mention flash, pdf reader, office reader, real player and lots of other stuff on board!

I think it is down to what you want out of the phone! Here`s a comparison sheet from esato

Also isn`t the K800 camera a Cyber-shot camera (jus tlike Sonys actual digital cameras). So picture quality must be really good, just like a proper camera?

yup the k800 is the cyber shot model and is not an upgraded k750.. it has a 3.2 megapixel camera...

I went with the N80 and it is suberb (although I did have to send back the first handset due to many bugs..the replacement has the lastest firmware and has no problems..) It`s a smart phone with a 3 mega pixel camera and a huuuuge screen... the quality of the photos are superb..

I just had a play with a K800i! Amazing phone I must say - but a different animal from the K80. As confirmed, the camera is cybershot - 3.2 megapixels with a xenon rather than an LED flash - the xenon is the normal camera flash. Loads of other features too.

The N80 is slightly shorter though stockier, and heavier. The K800i is a candybar phone. It looks more like the T630 than like the K750. There is a sliding cover on the lens to protect it and the images are as sharp as that of the N80 (I was surprised by this as the N80 doesnt have autofocus). The screen is larger and hi-res though smaller than the N80 (less pixel area as well), and looks slightly less sharp than the one on the N80. Signal strength is improved over the K750i, and is now at par with my N80. The music player bundled in the phone is equally good too.

What it lacks - which clinches the deal for the N80 for me - is the wifi browsing capability. I tend to use my phone to browse quite a bit - and if I am able to do it on a wifi network rather than on GPRS, it is much cheaper for me.

Oh - and the phone is cheaper too! On Onestopphoneshop, looking at Orange Canary 30, the N80 is £20, with no cashback whereas the K800i is free with 6 months free line rental!

The K800i is also 3G, which was not mentioned in the earlier comparison post.

After having a W800i for almost a year, I`m getting one next week, mainly because I use the camera a lot so I was sold by the idea of higher resolution, better flash and cool `bestpic` feature whereby it continuously takes photos so you can choose the best of 12.

Thanks for the input guys - they seem pretty equal, looks like it`ll come down to user preference and the couple of different utilities... I`ve had a Motorola E1000 for 18mths so have no allegiance either way manufacturer-wise.

Well, got my SE K800i today... I didn`t have a loyalty to SE or Nokia either way having just owned a Motorola and I just couldn`t make myself like the bulky little N80 (a colleague has one) with it`s slider and small keypad despite the WiFi and bigger capacity/cheaper miniSD storage solution. Also, the SE was free on the `3` tariff I`ve gone for and the N80 would have been £50.

The handset...S`okay I guess, have to say it doesn`t get me excited at all, it`s just a new handset to me. I think it`s arrival has been tempered by the fact the Walkman branded 3G SE versions (W850i, W900i & W950i with it`s 4Gb of flash!!) are just around the corner with their far superior storage capacities (although the first two only have 2Mp cameras and the W950i doesn`t have one at all) combined with the fact I can only get a 1Gb M2 card for mine currently (music playing software is the same on all the phones apparently). I qualify for an upgrade now though and couldn`t be bothered to wait any longer as my Motorola handset was shagged.

Saying that the CyberShot 3.2 Mp camera is very smart indeed, superb quality and the screen is nice and bright too. If you choose to MMS a photo you`ve just taken (at best setting of 3MP) the handset automatically resizes it before sending. Not too bothered about the BestPic feature. The flash is brilliant, literally.

(EDIT: Had a further play with the camera - it`s got several profiles for taking pics depending on the conditions and a couple of great little apps for mucking about with the pic after you`ve taken it)

The sound quality isn`t as good as my old Motorola E1000 so it won`t be replacing my mini iPod just yet.

(EDIT: I take this back somewhat, the quality with the earphones on is much improved over the speaker only, annoying that it has to be a SE connection headphone though and not a 3.5mm jack)

And it`s annoying having to get used to different button locations while texting (I keep changing to upper case instead of hitting `space`).

I haven`t bought the 1Gb M2 card just yet - I`ll wait a while in case the price comes down and/or the 2Gb is released. In the meantime the onboard 69Mb will do for enough mp3s for ringtones.

Think that`s about it. Will add anything else I think of - feel free to ask any questions too if you`re thinkning of getting one.
