Looking for a good student Broadband ISP

Jim Morrison (Elite) posted this on Monday, 15th August 2005, 18:51

Moving into a house in second year and am sharing with 3. We`re not looking for great speed, but data transfer levels will be high so ideally an upcapped or very high level service, 30 GB / month at the absolute least. Ntl will only do us through BT and there`s a 5GB / month cap through that. Looking in the Sheffield 0114 area.

Any suggestions most welcome!

Cheers

Blueyonder (uncapped and soon to upgrade speeds dramatically) would let you take your contract with you when you move or transfer it to another person, iirc.

Hi,

Thanks for that but it appears that BlueYonder isn`t available.

Does anyone have any experience with Plus.net?

I`ve checked on ADSL guide and there doesn`t seem to be too may complaints about them.

Cheers

Sister was in similar situation when she was at uni in Sheffield last few years.

She went with Virgin, think they do month to month contract so easy to cancel whenever ness.

Virgin changed their terms 2 months ago. There`s a charge of £50 to leave within 12 months. But if you consider free connection, free modem, free to transfer to another line after leaving Uni - then the deal is still good.
