Spybot S&D problem

Nina (Elite) posted this on Thursday, 4th November 2004, 22:46

After all the kerfaffle with the Adaware I (stupidly) decided to uninstall Spybot and then d/load it again from www.download.com and I`ve just now got onto the net and I keep getting this pop up stating "Spybot S&D detects that you want to dowload `Doubleclick` this is harmful to your computer. Do you want to block this download yes or no?" Or words to that effect.

I have not tried to download anything since yesterday except that I d/loaded CWShredder. I don`t go to `dodgy` sites or d/load any P2P stuff. I have never had this prob before and I run AVG everyday with Sygate and Spyware Blaster and Adaware and Spybot (before it went funny). I don`t have any viruses on my comp and I most certainly know I haven`t tried to d/load `DoubleClick`, so why on earth does this keep popping up? :/

It`s just a cookie, don`t worry about it :)

It keeps poping up because although you yourself is not trying to install it, whichever website you are on is trying to install it itself. It doesn`t have to be a dodgy site. Just a nice inicent site could install it.

There sould be an option in Spybot S&D to automaticly block this without poping up dialogs 24/7.

Hope this helps.

It`s the Immunize function in Spybot working in the background. It`s popping up a message when tracking cookies are trying to get back onto your system. You can set it to work silently in the background so you don`t get the messages though.

Open Spybot and click on the Immunize button on the left. Once it`s immunized your system, at the bottom of the right hand side of the program is a tick box for "enable permanent blocking of bad addresses in Internet Explorer" . Tick the box, then in the drop down menu choose "Block all bad pages silently".

That will stop the messages coming up, but still protect your computer. You`ll probably find it was set to "ask for blocking confirmation", which is why you got the message popping up.

Mark. :)
