Get a Creative Zen for <> £40, drag and drop (ie. no messing about with iTunes), better sound than an iPod and a lot cheaper.

And I`ve got an iPod before I get flamed :)

That`s the one my wife`s got for running/the gym...great little player. Runs rings around the iPod sonically and is far smaller than the new nano (though not as funky looking if that`s important)

I use an iPod Classic and with good headphones the sound is very good.

The Zen is the right way to go for a child`s first MP3 player, though.

There are some interesting touch screen mp3/mp4 players on ebay for around £35 being sold by UK sellers with good feedback; fancy one myself :D

Hope you don`t mind me adding a similar question to this one
Am I `constrained` to getting an iPod since I have an Apple Mac Computer as `other` MP3 players will not work as `seamlessly` with the Apple Mac?
I would like to replace our now `defunct` stereo separates with an MP3/4 Player with Docking Station/Speakers.
I was `veering` towards an ITouch as it`s the largest capacity I know of but also need a `system` for our little girls bedroom, possible a `Nano` + speakers/Dock -
It`s not that I desperately want to go down the iPod route but someone suggested I`d have less trouble `synching` between Imac and MP3 player(s).
Cheers
BigRon.

You aren`t constrained. Any drag and drop MP3 player will work seamlessly. My new Sony MP3 player works fine. I just connect it up, find it on the OSX desktop and drop the music on. Easy!

Also the ipod touch is by no means the biggest ipod. The normal sized ones have massive drives up to 120GB I think. Though this is by no means anywhere near the size of other branded players such as the archos etc.

I don`t own one of these, so I`m not making a recommendation, just pointing out the offer.
