Recording Sky Box Office events (boxing/wrestling) onto DVD...

Hulk Smash! (Elite) posted this on Saturday, 23rd August 2008, 18:47

Hi guys -

I used to be able to record Sky Box Office events I`d ordered onto DVD (from a Sky Plus box), no problem.

But since getting a new Sky HD box earlier in the year, I can`t seem to do it... it always says "recording of this material is not allowed" (...I can still record them onto VHS with no problem however).

So is there a way around this....? It`s getting quite annoying, paying £14.99 for events and not being able to record them (for my personal use, btw - I have a huge boxing and wrestling collection).

Any help would be really appreciated - cheers. :)

This probably doesn`t help but i think it`s a coding thing Sky do. In the manual for my Panasonic DVD + hard drive recorder it says something about certain things will only record to the hard drive, and cannot be recorded straight to DVDor onto the hard drive, then transfered to DVD.

So probaby not, it`s a copy protection thing, so yo don`t flog them at your local car boot sale, or let your mates watch for free, and make you buy the DVDs :(
