Multi regional DVD recorder wanted

SittingPretty (Elite) posted this on Tuesday, 12th September 2006, 22:14

Our Daewoo DVD/VCR combo has bit the dust.
I would like to get a DVD recorder next, a cheapish one if possible. But it has to be multiregional or hackable. Most of our DVDs are rg1-rg3.

Any advice would be much appreciated. :)
I won`t rule out another VCR/DVD combo, but our Daewoo one was absolute rubbish so won`t go there again!

Ta much. :)

All Liteon DVD recorders are hackable to multiregion with a simple remote code. The LVW-5115GHC+ records to DVD+ and - R/W and plays back DivX files, MP3 and JPEG, although it doesn`t format NTSC very well, causing jerky movements.

The LVW-5006 records to both + and - R/W, and also records to CD-R/W in either audio or video formats. No DivX playback, but the added bonus is that it can be hacked to remove macrovision, making it possible to back up your VHS collection to disc and even to copy your prized DVDs so that the originals don`t get damaged by the kids. (Perish the thought)

Oh, and all Liteon recorders come with a 2 year manufacturer`s warranty, and you can find both these models for under £80 if you look around.

Check out Amazon for the 5006. ;)

If you go to a specialist they can supply you with a quality make that is multiregion without having to rely on a Chinky Cheapie to hack
