PHILIPS DVDR980 Clock Problem

magnius (Mostly Harmless) posted this on Wednesday, 10th December 2003, 11:00

Hi,

I am having a problem with the clock on my Philips DVDR980...for some reason it is not keeping time very well!!!

When I first installed it the time was accurate to the second, but I noticed that after a couple of weeks it was 5 minutes fast!! I rang customer service at Philips and they gave me the VERY unhelpful solution of "just keep resetting it then" !!!!

It has continued to do this regularly ever since.

Unfortunately it is not covered by a warranty anymore (as it was purchased second hand) :(

Does anyone have a solution to this? Someone mentioned switching off the auto-clock to me once before...but I don`t know how to do this.

Any help greatly appreciated :)

Hi Magnius I had the same problem with a toshiba video , it turned out to be the ariel lead i had not plugged it in . The video was set in the morning and when i got back from work it had lost about an hour , it could be the same problem i did not record through the ariel lead always through the scart lead so i had not plugged in the ariel lead.I think the clock sets itself via television transmission times.fw600vj

I connected an ariel to the DVD and it seems to be keeping much better time :) In fact it is exact to the clock on Sky News :)
