Samsung HR730

Is there a Multi-Region hack for the Samsung HR730 DVD Recorder? I`ve been offfered one as an exchange for a faulty HR720.

Samsung HR 720 Fault

I have a fault with my Samsung HR 720 that not even Samsung themselves seem to be able to figure out!!

For whatever reason the picture skips/jumps and then freezes at around 1 hour and 40 minutes into a film...its not a disc fault because it happens on every single dvd over 1hr 40 long!

Any ideas what might be wrong with the damned thing?

I`ve tried the hack for the Samsung HR720 but I cannot get it to work :(

I do everything it says...and the humber 2 appears in the corner briefly...but when I press the last button and reset the DVD it is still reion locked :(

Any ideas what i`m doing wrong?

I`m looking for a DVD Recorder for around the £200 mark that has these features:

5.1 Surround
Multi-Region
DV input (for Camcorder)
2 Scart sockets

Could anyone point me in the right direction?

I`m not sure if there is an Alsi near me....I`ll have to ask :) But so far I`m with the Pacific 1002 as that has had the most recommendations.

I just saw a Compacks DVD 800 in woolworths for £29.99...can this be hacked?

Not that it`s any of your damn buisiness anyway...but she has family in America who want to be able to send her DVD`s for Christmas etc....and besides...some of the films she wants haven`t been released on DVD on Region 2...ever....Plus alot of the DVD`s I have are Region 1 and if I can get her a multi-region player I can lend her DVD`s.

What kind of dumbass useless response was that anyway? Hmmm? Just answer the question or don`t bother replying.

At the moment I am looking at the Pacific 1002 from Asda, but does this Ronin beat it?

Okies....I`ll see about running an extention through from the front room then...a lot of cable, but I`m sure I can tidy it away. I can`t really put up an outdoor ariel just for this...I`m two floors up in a council flat...they won`t let me put up an ariel...although they did let me put up a satalite!!

Freeview On Indoor Ariel?

I want ot get Freeview for my TV in Bedroom...buy I have no outdoor ariel connection nearby :( Is there any way of getting a good signal with an indoor ariel? Or are any of those remote signal senders any good? I don`t really want to have to run a lead to the freeview box.

Yamada DVD 8000 Sound Fault

Hi,

I am having trouble with my Yamada DVD 8000 Recorder which I purchased new only three weeks ago.

It has been working fine up until now but has developed a fault that I cannot seem to rectify.

For some reason there is a very loud humming noise which overides all of the playback (I can just about make out the sound of the film under all the humming), and when I command the player to do something I hear bleepy noises (rather like fax machine sounds) mixed in with the hum. I have all of the leads in correctly and have not had this problem until now.

Does anyone know what could be wrong here?

Yamada 8000 set up problem...help please

I have just got my new Yamada DVD Recorder and have set all the cables up correctly so far as I can tell, but for some reason I can`t seem to get it to tune into Sky for the record settings :(

One problem seems to be a missing menu screen on the tuning menu...it is supposed to come up with a screen asking whether you want to search for Air (Terrestrial?) or Cable but it doesn`t do this so I think it is trying to search Air by default and it can`t find anything...this might be because I don`t have it connected to Terrestrial anymore...but how do I get it to search for Cable?

Hmmm...no mention of 5.1 on any of their models...I wonder why Special Reserve say that it is 5.1 compatible?

I`ve checked with the manual on my old DVD Recorder (Philips DVDR 980) and it seems that it wasn`t 5.1 either, just Dolby Pro Logic and I`m more than happy with the sound that it offers :) So the Yamada may be a good choice after all....unless there is a 5.1 compatible DVD Recorder for under £200 out there....I`ll ask in Maplins on Monday.
