Arianet 2255 PDVD / Videologic ZXR 500 5.1 Speaker System

Help !!!!

Bought above for my son for Xmas, having difficulty connecting the two to-geter. We have used the supplied dual phono leads and used the set - up menu audio output to supply Dolby 5.1 and when we test speakers using the speaker tone facility each speaker works accodingly.

Put when we play our limited DVD`s ( Peter Kay at the Blackpool Tower ) VCD`s MP3`s on CDR`s we only get sound out of the TV`s speakers and the front Videlogic Speakers after a lot of frustration and re-connecting and rechecking I now assume that these disc`s are not either Dolby 5.1 / DTS or Prologic compatable.

I hope this makes sence to someone, will gladly review these kits when we understand them better.

Many thanks in advance,

Rob

have you tried all the audio options from the DVD player

i.e 2 channel digital 5.1

had same prob connecting DVD player to marantz av tuner.

a DVD disc should produce at least 4.1 with pro logic sytem through at least one of the sound options on videologic i know the marantz av tuner
can play sound through all speakers but not always true 5.1.

Thanks for the reply,

Have re-checked set-up on DVD to no avail, nothing out of speakers on Dolby digital or 2 channel amplifer settings. Only sound is when DVD set to Analog: normal play back and then we get sound out of front speakers and subwoofer playing a DVD or CD.

Regards,

Rob

As far as i know, that DVD isnt likely to carry a 5.1 track, and probably has a basic stereo soundtrack which is why you only get the 2 front speakers, and its the same with CD`s you wont get other speakers apart from sub/f-l/f-r and maybe centre(?)

Anyway as the above said, rent a movie with a good soundtrack like Gladiator or something, then close your eyes and imagine your in the Collesium.

BTW Please let me know how loud that setup is, as i was looking at them speakers for my PC, the DVD any good too?

some surround sound D/D DTS PRO LOGIC I/II will let you fake a 5.1/4.1
effect using only a stereo signal.or even a music setting can give more than stereo L/R. just to test if the connections are right. but if the videologic has none of the above then ignore.

This site is Brill, at least I get constructive respone better than the manufactures helpdesk. Checked Peter Kay @ the Tower on this site and Yes you are right only stereo. will follow-up advice about getting a 5.1 track. A little disappointed about not getting sound out of other speakers and I thought I had done my homework visiting manufactures web sites and reading reviews. But after reading info on this site the subject is more complex than I thought.

The Videologic ZXR-500 5.1 Channel Speaker System is very loud, integrated 6 channel amp which can be connected to a multichannel PC sound card or DVD player .
Subwoofer power output 25 W RMS
Satellite 8 W RMS each

Total Output power 65 W RMS
Bought from aria.co.uk ( Manchester ) for £58.75 look under products/ speakers second page at the bottom seem to have a good selection.
Additional info: videologic.com or pure-digital.com.
The PDVD player was also bought from Aria for £88.13 to early to access, intial comment as others on WEB site very bright blue light and flimsy remote control, nice looking very slim unit and has so far played everything including VCD, MP3 on CD-R, down loaded film via net copied using Nero I think to convert AVI to MPEG 2 to CD-R ( my son has just done it )

Thanks again for your help,

Rob

Hi Jimmy,

The Videologic manual is geared for connecting to PC sound card but we have connected as follows for amplifier with 5.1 channel input.

Audio Input to DVD Player
Front Right Front Right Channel
Front Left Front Left Channel
Sub (S) Subwoofer Channel
Centre (C) Central Channel
Rear (R) Surround Right Channel
Rear (L) Surround Left Channel

PS Adianet PDVD is a chinese make as the translation and instructions are very unique i.e the set-up menu on screen doesn`t quite reflect the manual but you can get by.

Thanks again

Rob

i know the place well aria that is,its down near bell vue dogs.

bought from there myself

the arianet 2255 also goes by other names such as P&B and also United
the P&B models are supposed to come with macro disabled.
A mate of mine has a 2233 very good machine picture and sound.
blew his wharfdale 750 out of the water.
just looked at the pdf file of the videologic

it doesnt do any coding and relies on the player to have 5.1 which it has
but it needs 3 sets of double phono leads from the source machine to the sub to feed 5.1 signal i assume i hope these are correctly fitted and
that the sound output from the dvd player is set correctly. but as said before you need a 5.1 film to check this out.
