RE: Do all DVD disks contain Macrovision

[Macrovision doesn`t work with certain video recorders. If I play a DVD through my FERGUSEN VCR I get the usual macro bright/dark reaction. Until I press the record button, then it goes away.]]

well that`s the opposite of what its supposed to do

my prob is every DVD i own except saving private ryan will play through the vcr with the rec on or off [i know this now as i have tried them all]

saving private ryan will play with no rec. i was recording another channel
on the TV will attempting to watch SPR when the picture went all funny as soon as the tape player kicked in with a timed rec the picture from the dvd source gave a macro effect.

RE: Do all DVD disks contain Macrovision

well 42% er

thanks for that titbit of info

RE: Do all DVD disks contain Macrovision

cheers John

got the mail

MIB II plays great [exept for weird region thing but thats a thread over in hardware]

so what is on saving private ryan

i read somewhere last night that it was Spielberg`s first DVD release
and that he was reluctant to do so for fear of it being pirated

hence dual layer and movie clip of over 6 gig.

there`s something else on the disk that makes it dislike vcrs

RE: MIB II effect on your player, plays region 2 disk different on two machines

this means that the MIB II region 2 disk has actualy got region 4 information on it, but why does the multi region player pick out the region 4 info first

is it because my player was intended for sale in region 4 as multi region[ as i know the brand is sold in that part of the world but know one has heard of them here MIZUDA, aka DIGITAL I, ARIANET P&B]

or do all multi region players pick out region 4 info first.

or do region 2 coverted to multi region pick out info for region 2 first

in danger of losing the plot here.

MIB II effect on your player, plays region 2 disk different on two machines

posted this here as a hardware issue

in the menu of men in black II there is a training video accessed by putting the curser on the worm reading the paper

I have tried this with two players and the results are different,

on a digital i auto region player the celebs are Australian and this can not be changed, but on a region 2 machine the celebs are from English TV . If you own a copy of MIB II try the training video and see what the results are or if any body has a multi region player you can manually set
try it on different regions i.e. region 2 and region 4

Please post some results i am interested to see what they are, as the explanation from the vender of the multi region machine i own did not sound convincing

RE: Do all DVD disks contain Macrovision

Macrovision logo

none of my limited dvd collection have the logo.

i am still a little concerned it may be the player.
and that saving private ryan is the only macro protected dvd i own
as i only own a few dvds at present i need to get my hands on a certifeid
macro protected dvd.

RE: Do all DVD disks contain Macrovision

What other discs have successfully copied? ;-)

to be honest the macro free machine was not bought for that reason
the shortage of scart sockets on the tv was, or more like to many gizmos
and only two sockets. The dvd player is routed through a vcr only because
i don`t like scart switchers. [manual ones anyway]
DVD player/ VCR/ Freeview/Games Console/ AV Tuner/ all this has to fit
into one tv. i am not to sure whether everything is connected for best results on all input devices i have had to make sacrifices to get others to a viewable level

RE: Do all DVD disks contain Macrovision

so any ideas what is on my saving private ryan

the symptoms are macro like the brightness alters every 5 seconds or so

there is no rolling of picture and the volume stays accurate

Do all DVD disks contain Macrovision

i have a macro disabled machine it will play all my limited dvd collection
through my video recorder all exept one Saving Private Ryan
my thoughts are this

1/ saving private ryan is the only disk i own with macrovision and my machine is not realy macro off.

2/saving private ryan has a differant type of macrovision.

the machine was sold to me as macro disabled

RE: Any help with the Arianet 2233, Arianet 2255, and the Kiiro x5?

try here

this is where those arianets are made also known as P&B / H&B
DIGITAL I

http://www.mizudaelectronics.com/products/dvd.html

the arianets are not macro free

but i can tell you the P&B 2233 and the Digital I 2266 are macro free.

they are all made by mizuda OEM order 1000+ and some extra cash
you can have your own name on the machine.

RE: Anybody out there with a P&B 2233

best place is computer fair

save some money

they are manufactured by mizudu in china as an oem machine
also arianet machine 2255 is mizuda but all are not macro off
the latest machine is the digital i 2266 as good as the 2233
only the 2233 2266 are macro disabled.[tried both]

they ship in batches of 1000+ and you could have your own name on the machines at an extra cost one such company that has paid that extra cost is p&b, aka zone 1 dvd in stoke 0870 2406975 [no web page]
if you buy from this number the price of the machine is around £130
but they do computer fairs and the price for the machine can be alot less.

anybody out there got one of these machines, i picked one up at the weekend some distance away, and the remote doesnt work. does anybody know which infa red code it uses ie samsung. because i could get it running on a O,F,A remote, i cant use scan mode for dvd players as i have to download them. its a fortnight till i get back to where i bought it.:-(

it seems a decent player by the specs multi region/macro off. plays
dvd/mp3/vcd/svcd/dvcd/cd/cd-r/cd-rw/kodak.

built in 5.1/progessive scan/interlaced[choice]

any liinks to sites with this machine could be lead to the codes i need to set up the remote

RE: TV Remotes.

can tell you the topline 8 works everything i own

even a cheap unbranded dvd player from superdrug, i phoned One For All
help line told them the dvd player was a mustek 56 they downloaded the code into the remote. it also operates a Marantz sr4200 av tuner [not fully
but the buttons you would use most after setup]and all braned tvs vcrs.
its not as sleek as a pronto but with kids in the house £150 on a remote
£40 on the docking station not recomended.if there are any left [ring the mail order because web always says out of stock]get the topline 8.

RE: TV Remotes.

richersounds had the topline 8 for £9.99 rrp £70

bargain if you ask me, lcd screen backlite buttons built in modem upgrades over the phone operates up to 8 devices inclueding home cinama.

RE: Acoustic Solutions DVD321- RICHER SOUNDS

i looks like the mustek 56 without the display screen

that is hackable with instuctions on this site

New DVD player needed please help.

ok as some might know through other posts i have made i own a basement level DVD player the one bought from super drug a few months back, i bought it after much reading as my needs that i have to go through
a vhs as scart sockets are full on the tv.

so a macro defeating machine was a priority as where all the other usual
i want it to play vcd mp3 blah blah blah you know the script.

The super drug machine has got me pulling my hair out as it plays everything i throw at it, but it begins to stutter at the end of films [last ten minuets or so] i have noticed near identical scratches on my small but
brand new DVD collection.[is it possible the player could be doing this when it locks up] ideas please ,thought it was overheat but i have pointed a great big room fan at it,and it still stutters and locks.

i want to return this machine but i cant find a machine that fits my requirements [All my scarts are full with vhs digi box games ect]

have any of you got round this in other ways[not switchers]

my ideal answer would be a better quality player with the same features

budget £200

RE: Home Cinema question....+.... something else

Argos where doing a 5.1 add on package for about £170

acoustic soutions DS1033 with built in decoder

dont know what its like though.

RE: Toshiba SD220E (multi-region)

i will look in to this

my current dvd [first by the way learning fast or through mistakes]
is a mustek clone it plays everthing and is macro off due to scart shortage
so it has to run thru the vhs :).honest

i say it plays everthing but not as good as i hoped, rented films a no go
as it skips and stutters on imperfect disks.

i need a better quality player to go with marantz SR4200 AV amp
but i need the dvd player to go thru a vhs so a macro defeating machine
is needed as i dont want the clutter of scart switchers

RE: Toshiba SD220E (multi-region)

Asian as you seem to have the tosh rigged up thru s video here comes the silly question does the macro signal still pass on to the next device.[never tried]

AliH
Also extra £20 on region free tosh will give you peace of mind with any warranty with R.S as the firmware up grade to the region 1 machine is
probably permanent so you cant revert it back to its original state should it develop a problem

RE: Is the Acoustic Solutions 321 a good bargain player?

yep go for a tosh

i have one of those mustek yukia super drug acoustic soloutions dvd players

the super drug model, the one i have will play just about anything you throw at it and it will go macro free to so you can hook it through a vhs
recorder IF YOU ARE SHORT ON SCARTS AT THE BACK OF THE TV.
but i have to say it is the jack of all trades but master of none, as it glitches and stutters at any imperfection on a disk so rented films a no no

dont waste £70 invest another £50-£70 buy some quality

as suggested by others

i wish somone would have told me this two months ago.

RE: Toshiba SD220E (multi-region)

RCE a little program on a DVD disk to stop you watching R1 DVDs on a
multi-region player [mainly players that switch region codes automatically]

also region 2 tosh can be made region free according to what i have been reading, with lots of positive replies

i copied this from the download site for the file that is needed.
************************************************************************************

What`s the use of a DVD player if it`s not region free? :-)

Thus, for those who, like me, have purchased this great DVD player which is the Toshiba SD220E, here is the firmware upgrade that will make your DVD player region Free.

Everything is explained in a readme file (Word file) included in the archive (created with Winrar 2.9).
Right click, and save as. File name is sd220e.rar

Enjoy! ^_^

I do not know if this turns Macrovision off, so you should test by yourself.

I have no way to know whether it will work for you or not, so please don`t flame me if it does not. All I do is providing you the file.

RE: Toshiba SD220E (multi-region)

have they got some left multi-region i mean.

region 2 player £99

its got a firmware hack out there, looks easy to do

Aslan are they that good, is the multi-region auto or manual

RE: Problem with sound from my Dolby Prologic surround system

makes and models would be handy

you are using scart for audio yes/no

what about other audio outs from the player [digital out dts dolby digital]
component audio out.
