LARGE capacity washing machines....?

dusty321 (Elite) posted this on Tuesday, 1st May 2007, 21:09

Anyone own a washer big enough to deal with a double duvet?

Got the chance to buy a Sital B12-N which is large enough (I think) to wash a double duvet.... rated at 8.5KG max? :/ Question is, for those who own one, is the wash performance any good?

Pretty sure the old Dyson washing machines could wash one but they are dis-continued now.... >:(

Well I have a large load washer actually ex/larg washer and I do wash my Queen size bedding(sheets) and thinner bedspread, but not comforter, I take those to a commercial washer place.I find when you do wash a comforter and when it`s rinsing and spining your making the spinner of your machine push a bit hard on it, I rather go to a commercial place then kill my machine for repairs later on so far I have this machine for almost 8 yrs. God bless her lol( no repairs so far)

Awkward question Dusty.
A 7.5 Kilo washer can handle a double duvet, I think the 8 and 9`s handle queen and king size but the "problem" part is on the duvet itself.
What happens is that the filling tends to all matt into the corner of the pocket it`s stitched into and becomes a bit of a mess really lol.
Some duvets don`t and it`s usually caused on the spin cycle, but finding the spin cycle that works without leaving the duvet dripping (same result) is another issue.

"down" filled Duvet`s tend not to be so bad for that but I`m of the thinking "quality duvet so do I wanna shove it in the washing machine?"

Then again, man made fibre filled duvets are now so cheap it`s sometimes easier to just chuck it and buy a new one ;)

(And give yer old machine to Dr 42%er for his O/H! lol)

My local laundrette/dry cleaner charges £10 for washing a double duvet I can buy a new one for that so that`s what I do. Having said that when my washing machine needs replacing I will buy a large load machine.
