How far can a phone get by itself?!

xfg (Elite Donator) posted this on Saturday, 18th February 2006, 23:02

A couple of weeks ago I set my alarm on my mobile at night - but woke up before it went off and came downstairs. I left it to chirrup to itself until the battery went flat because I couldn`t be bothered to sort it out.

That`s the last I saw of my phone! I don`t use my phone a lot (mainly use instant messages and the landline for people to contact me), so I didn`t go to pick it up for at least a week - at which time I couldn`t find it. It has to be *somewhere* in my room but I`ve looked really really hard.

My only theory of what could have happened is it vibrated its way across the table, fell off, and then vibrated its way under something. But I just can`t find it.

I dont` *think* there`s been opportunity for anyone to go in there without me knowing and steal it - not that anyone I know *would* steal from me!

It`s a mystery!

Anyone else had mysterious vanishings? How far *can* a phone go by vibration alone? :/

Having exhausted all the possible places, I started to look in the *ridiculous* places...

3 Christmases ago my friend gave me a battered-up back-less old doll`s house to renovate as a project (currently half-done). I haven`t touched it since I moved it last year... my phone was inside one of the downstairs rooms.

We`ve got *elves* I`m telling you!

Edit: the answer to this:

The final tale relates to a ghost in a 4 storey house in Exeter that a semi amateur dramitics company owned for rehearsals, costume & prop storage, complete with resident ghost, who was seen on occasion waiting by the front door in Top hat & tails, who faded as you got nearer & on other occasions would move objects about or make his presence felt, if a noise or something couldnt be found you would call out "Shut up" or "Lets have it back Charlie!"

One of my favorite Charlie events was a bunch of students wanted to hire costumes & the radio was playing as they went through the costume dept (whole 2nd floor), the student & wardrobe mistress were all in one room & the radio suddenly stopped playing in the other room, it was found 4 weeks later at the bottom of a chest of costumes under a pile of undisturbed chests of costumes (batteries flat as it was still "on").

Time to re-awaken the Spooky Britain thread?

I consider myself an optimist, albeit an optimist with cynical tendencies and a dark side that Lucifer himself would find a little creepy. (Perhaps you've noticed.) You don't normally associate cynicism with an upbeat pov. But I have exactly that combination and will defend it.
