70`s Western TV Series. What`s It Called?

eforegg (Competent) posted this on Tuesday, 20th April 2004, 21:19

Hi

Does anyone remember a western series, BBC1, on a Friday at 9.35pm (the Starsky & Hutch/MacLeod,etc slot)

The premise was a guy searching for his sister, who I think may have been taken by Native Americans (red indians in the unenlightened 70`s) It was set in a wagon train or something and each week he tried o track down his sister but ended up helping other folk instead (kind of like Mulders journey fr his sister in the X-Files come to think of it)

The name Oregon Trail rings a bell but not sure if this is it or not (or if my memory is just pants. . .always a possibility!!)

Does this mean anything to anybody besides me?

Cheers

J

Was it "The Quest"? :/ I think it starred either Tim Mathieson or Kurt Russell.

Oregon Trail is unlikely. Only 13 episodes were made and it was cancelled six episodes in. On US television only the first six episodes were ever screened, so I`d think it unlikely it was shown in the UK.

I`d forgotten all about this, but remember that it was a really good series.

Brilliant, The Quest! This was a great series, does anyone remember if he ever did find his sister.

Mark re "Oregon Trail" I`m certain this aired in the UK at some point.

You forget how good Friday night telly was in the 70`s and I dont think thats me romanticing it, just seemed to be more interesting programmes. Does anyone remember the Gemini Man with Ben Murphy (from Alias Smith and Jones) A watch that made him invisible. Anotehr classic. Or of course the Man form Atlantis and the infamous don not try these stunts at home warning. I wonder if this was the first program featuring this warning?

It was "The Quest" The Bodine Brothers were searching for their sister. One of the brothers was half indian. It was a great series. I loved the westerns and still do. Hell I even have my own guns and holsters boots an hats and Winchester rifle.
