Project Gotham Racing 2

Well my local Game store sneaked this out onto the shelves there yesterday so I had the chance to take it for a quick blast last night. Well sweet game! This is basically a case of bigger, better more and literally blows all other racing games out of the water. The car handling is superb (if you`ve played the demo that wasn`t the final version, it`s much more solid than that!), graphics are stunning and there`s no real indication of slowdown etc (ala NFS:U). There`s a very good range of cars from the Mini Cooper S to the new Ferrari Enzo.

Haven`t had the chance to try it online but from what I`ve heard it`s meant to be superb. Buy this game now if you remotely like driving games!!! (er...assuming you have an XBox as well!) As much as I like the GT series on PS2 it doesn`t come close to hurtling around the streets of Edinburgh etc! :)

Was reffering to the XBox version of NFS:U though from what I`ve heard the PS2 version suffers from this as well.

On Wednesday if I won the lotto I wanted to treat myself to a RS Focus, then it was a Boxster, then it was a Cayenne ! Shoot by next week I`m gonna be needing that Enzo. Toppermost game.

PGR2 is VERY good, but not as good as the first game for the hardcore racing game fan...it`s just TOO easy - basically I`m up to the Super Car cup on silver medals without having to retry anything.

In the first game, there were some cone challenges for example that took HOURS AND HOURS to master, part of the fun, there is no challenge so far in PGR2.

I also do not like the way that you can now only use cars from a certain class, in the original game, being able to go back to the first cups with the Ferrari F50 and do a combo round two whole laps was a challenge, now there`s little incentive to go back and replay.

Also, it`s way too easy to get the decent cars - I`ve about 80 Kudos tokens, so each cup I unlock, I instanly get the best car, where`s the fun in that? In the first game, battling to get those last few Kudos to unlock the next car was the challenge - here it`s just race, win, race, win.

A great driving game don`t get me wrong, but the first is much more challenging.

Have to totally agree with Chris on this one. You start to think that you are the daddy of driving games but in reality the game just got less challenging. Still a fantastic game with amazing visuals and great potential in the LIVE stakes.

OK, well I have picked up PGR2 today, and have to say it is great, I have been playing on Live all afternoon. Really adds to the game being able to play against real people, which brings me to my question, anyone on here up for a live game? Maybe we could schedule a time, and have a DVD Reviewer game?

I think we should arrange some online games, maybe have a DVD Reviewer clan! lol!

Though I`ve not got an XBox so it`d have to be a PC game, like Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory, BF1942 or something like that. 8) Reckon I`ll get an Xbox after Xmas though, I`m dying to play PGR2!!!
