Metrodome go into administration

Jitendar Canth (Reviewer) posted this on Thursday, 18th August 2016, 10:08

Had more than a few check discs from them over the years, most recently Evolution. It's a shame to see another independent distributor fold, as they had some decent titles. Some of them have been picked up by 101 Films it seems.

EDIT: Back Catalogue listing

That is sad news. Unfortunately they haven't really been releasing prime titles for some time, but they have a decent catalogue. I wonder if a company like Arrow will get the rights to some of them and produce decent versions of some of the better ones? They had Donnie Darko and Stakeland, for example. Also the G.I. Joe and Transformers films. They also released all of the animated Transformers TV shows. Pity they never really embraced HD, as that's the reason I stopped buying many of the titles.

Manga Entertainment have the Transformers movie, and are giving it a Blu-ray release this December, struck from a 4k Remaster.

Sorry to see them go, not sure why they didn't embrace HD, have fond memories of them from pre-Blu-ray days when DVD was everything. One of the best independents in those days.

Their catalogue was very broad and, as far as independents go,  it seems as if we are in the era of the niche players ... like Arrow, Eureka, Network (perhaps) and so on. Sigh.

They are indeed, and what a good package it looks to be. Hopefully the new 4K scan will yield decent results and the transfer/encode will be up to scratch. I have way too many copies of the film as it is, although the German BD is the best of the bunch (theatrical cut-wise, which is the only cut worth watching).

I never had one of those, but I do have the original UK release, the US release, the UK DC release (all DVD) and the UK SE (both cuts) and German BDs.
