The Punisher War Journal

Just watched this and have to say i was more than surprised :) At last they have done one of my favorite comic book characters some justice, the lead is actually an actor which is a start, he (although fighting it) does give a stuff and has been pushed to the edge and on occasions falls over it, the fight scenes were very good (in a gory gratuitous way of course) and for me the main reason that this is far and away the Punishers best big screen outing (given thats not saying much) is that it is based on a fantastic Graphic Novel which reintroduced the Jigsaw one of my favorite baddies :), that was the main problem for me funnily enough, i feel that they have turned him into a second rate Joker when in the comics he is anything but mad.......with his supporting cast and storylines out there I always thought this character was actually made for tv tbh and possibly this is where he will end up, anyway as I said with the violence and gore it is not for the teen comic book fans but I would recommend it to anyone else for a switch off and enjoy numerous bad guys get theirs :)

19, I think he can handle it. Obviously if I buy it for him, I`ll have to vet it first...

I`m looking forward to seeing this - I like the Punisher character (and seem to be the only person on earth to have really liked the 2003 version, lol). I don`t think it`s getting a UK cinema release... (I could be wrong though?), so will probably have to look "elsewhere" or wait for the DVD.

After all the good/great comic-book movies this year, I don`t think it will be very well received (or go down too well with the critics) - but really, sometimes all you want is a movie where you can switch your brain off, sit back and watch the "bad guys" get it... :)

I did. I thought it was okay really. Probably one of the most pure comic book movies over the last few years, sitting alongside Hulk and Spider-man as the type of film that feels like it`s been ripped right off the page. I really liked the blue/yellow look that the film carried, and thought that it went along at a rip roaring pace.

The violence was OTT, and probably the most graphic I`ve seen for a while (or at least since Rambo). Punching a man right through the head is just brilliant. :)

That said, some of the CGI was daft (the flipping guy caught mid-air by an RPG) and I much preferred Thomas Jane over his replacement. It`s definitely not a film for everyone, but comic book fans should enjoy it. I`d give it 3 out of 5. :D
