RE: Can The JMB DVD 3000 play VCD and CDr`s & is it a Samsung

Its an Orion/Grundig 220/Matsui whatnot. sorry don`t know about your cdr problem. perhaps try hack forum?

RE: Phillips 701: Is ANYONE going to help me or is this beyond redemption????

Allan I can see why you`re frustrated but that`s the second misogynistic comment you`ve made now. People have their faults but blaming it on their gender is bigoted and just makes you look silly.

RE: Are there any VCR`s which automatically disable macrovision?

my 5 year old ferguson disables the macrovision on my philips 711, but apparently one of the old firmware versions for the 711 has no macrovision, and i haven`t checked to see if my player has this, so it might not be the vcr.

RE: grundig gdv 220 feedback required

I wanted to change it for a Samsung 511, and as they had none instock, and I didn`t want to spend any more than about 180, I got a refund. Ended up getting a Philips 711 in a catalogue clearance shop with a 25% off offer, for 100 quid. This player plays the discs that were skipping in the grundig no problem, and its a lot quieter. When I took it back, I was told to find the person who the mastercaare guy had spoken to on the phone, and she was ok, if a little brusque, but the woman who refunded my credit card even apologised for the problem. still won`t be buying anything else off them though. all the best - and make sure if you take it back its within 28 days - after this they can force you to have a `repair`.

RE: grundig gdv 220 feedback required

Sorry to hear about your problems. I was `lucky` enough to secure a refund from Curry`s after I encountered a helpful member of staff on their digital helpline (the one that comes up on the startup screen), who rang the store and more or less ordered them to offer me a replacement or refund. I had exactly the same problem with my 220. I am pretty sure that this player has a significant design fault - it`s crap. Hope you get your situation sorted and good luck with the watchdog thing.

RE: DON`T BUY FROM DIXONS OR CURRYS

God what a load of responses. An update - I rang the DSG Digital Mastercare line after watching `girl interrupted` and enduring about 20 skips and freezes and they told me the shop were in the wrong, particularly as i`d originally complained after only using the machine once. He rang the shop, told them to pull their finger out and they gave me a refund after the machine I wanted to get in exchange wasn`t in stock. I ended up buying a Philips 711 for £100 in a catalogue clearance shop sale - no problems and seems a solid machine with better picture than the grundig. I`d still advise, on the basis of my experience, that people not shop in DSG - and what I`m saying wasn`t slanderous because I merely communicated a material fact about the way I was treated. Maybe there are better examples of DSG stores, but the one I got my player in was appalling in its treatment of customers. So, those who are lucky to have friendly and flexible staff in their local DSG shops, buy from them, but i`ll always, in future ask whether i`ll be out through the spanish inquisition if i claim a product is faulty in future. Perhaps DVD players are a special case - it seems that the technology still has teething troubles and many things which we see as `faults` are actually technical glitches. This is when problems can emerge re: refunds, and stores such as Tesco and Richer Sounds have the right idea - if it doesn`t do what you want it to do, at all or well enough, then you can get something that does. Hope all of you get your exchanges/refunds if you want them - there`s nothing worse than having a product that you don`t want and that you wouldn`t even feel comfortable selling second hand due to its poor performance.

DON`T BUY FROM DIXONS OR CURRYS

Just a warning to people after my experience. I bought a Grundig 220 player from Currys a month ago. It skips on disks like a lamb in the spring, yet they refused to exchange it for a different model because when they `tested` it in store (by watching a film for 2 minutes, the problem (unsuprisingly) wasn`t apparent. They also claim that they only exchange for `technical faults` (i.e. not design faults with all examples of a particular product) Everyone - stick to those places that give you a `no quibble` guarantee exchange or refund e.g. Tesco or Richer Sounds - you might save yourselves a lot of hassle and energy. Im stuck with a rubbish player now, and I haven`t got the time to take them to court over it. I blame myself - I`d never usually buy anything from those places, but I paid the price. They don`t give a damn about their customers, so, be warned.

RE: Matsui DVD120, Grundig GDV220 - Dont Buy!!

Yes, but Curry`s wont change it for me. They played a disc in the shop and because it was ok in the five mintues they watched, they wouldn`t take it back. Also, the drive makes a terrible noise when you stop a disc, meaning that if a disc isn`t playing you have to switch the machine off completely.Grundig are s***.
Now i`m stuck with it jumping like a cheetah on speed!

Macrovision disable on Grundig DV220, Orion, JMB machines

people have said that these machines are already macrovision disabled. When I plug mine into my VCR, I just bet a black screen and a monotone. Any advice from anyone? (i`ve got a Ferguson Pal/NTSC VCR)

Macrovision disable on Grundig DV220

I`ve read on this forum that macrovision is disabled on these machines straight out of the box. When I connect mine to my VCR and switch the VCR to AV, all I get is a high pitched noise - no picture. I`m not a tech-head, so does anyone know whether i need to fiddle with the vcr settings to activate the SCART input? (The VCR is a Pal/NTSC Ferguson NICAM job, and I`ve hacked the DVD player already). cheers

RGB for Medion/Limit

Does anyone know how to make this machine output to RGB? I can only get it to work on my AV Scart (composite) - on my Sony TV. The RGB screen just throws up black.

Limit/Medion

Does anyone know whether or not this machine outs to RGB? When plugged into my RGB Scart input on my Sony, there`s a picture on AV but not on RGB so obviously it`s not sending a signal at the moment. Other than that, it`s a good machine using R1 and R2 - sound in particular is excellent.
