RE: PANASONIC DMR E30 HACK (HAVE YOU TRIED IT)

Found it where?

Doesn`t work for the E50 that`s for sure. No setup on the remote for a start (its in the menu)

RE: Multi-region code needed for Alba DVD108, pleeeeeaassee....

Try

Open tray

2812 - should bring up a hidden menu

Choose 9]

Press setup

Away you go.

Now the 108x is a different matter...

RE: sony rdr-gx3

Not a hope sunshine. Sony kit is locked tighter than a (deleted). You need the help of a friendly dealer or a chipping company.

RE: Mustek V56L-2C

Don`t understand this. Your R1 American discs should say NTSC on the back and your R2 discs PAL. Is there any chance your R2 discs were sourced in Japan which uses the NTSC standard but is a R2 dvd region?

RE: Panasonic DMRE50 HELP PLEASE

Digibox is the only external input? ie. no RF ariel lead connected to the E50. So when you switch off the digibox there is absolutely no input to the E50 apart from the general noise the RF socket will pick up. What do you expect to see in these circumstances or is there something you forgot to mention such as an ariel being connected?

RE: Mico Diamante 3000 - extra hidden menu functions?

Pretty well all the `universal` chips used in Chinese players have a comprehensive list of features that can be activated if the right codes are known. Things like macrovision on/off are particularly valuable. What about a £5000 reward to the Chinese engineer who spills the beans on the remote codes to open all these options?

RE: Mustek V56L-2C

A black and white picture from a hacked player usually means you are outputting an American NTSC signal to a British PAL television set. Is it B&W for both region 1 and region 2 discs or only the former?

RE: Panasonic DMR-E50 dvd recorder help

Scart from AV1 output of the vcr (assuming its nicam, otherwise just use the scart socket on the machine) to AV2 on the E50. Now go into setup (functions on the remote and scroll down to the last category and press enter) select the last category inputs and then make sure the inputs are set to Video, VCRs don`t output RGB signals so you won`t get a picture if this is set. If the video tape is protected by macrovision anticopy technology the E50 won`t record it.

RE: 10Gb iPod at Dixons - £199.00

Be nice if they gave you some warning (on the box say) before you buy the thing instead of waiting for the nasty suprise for Xmas morning tucked away in the manual. Also I read the so called mega test in What Hi FI on these juke boxes before buying (the ipod came top) but not a word about the connectivity problem, bloody useless review.

RE: is it possible dvdram to dvd-r? record transfer

My cheepo solution, much derided by the big pockets is to record on dvd ram on an e50 edit out the bits you don`t want then transfer the ram disc to a panny s35 (about £90 multiregion) and record back throught the e50 onto dvd-r discs. Works brilliantly.

RE: Help! - I think my Sky digibox is bust

Yes

Sometimes they freeze and since there is no on off switch the only option is to disconnect from the mains and then reconnect. If you don`t get the Sky set up channel the thing is bust.

RE: 10Gb iPod at Dixons - £199.00

You need a funny looking cable with a usb connector at one end and two connectors at the other, one thin and one like a small usb. My daughter got hers from Amazon, but it meant she couldn`t use her Xmas present until January, thanks APPLE.

RE: 10Gb iPod at Dixons - £199.00

Sorry for the aggression but what really took the biscuit was the lack of a USB connector bundled with the package when most of the world uses PCs with this connection. Just firewire and if you don`t have that stuff you was the attitude. No warning until you read the manual which isn`t much good on Christmas morning. Took about a week to get the lead to actually allow my daughter to use the bloody thing! Some Christmas present. I`m also quite p***ed off with the technical press who don`t mention these things in their reviews which I researched carefully. Suppose their reviewers have all the cutting edge computer stuff and assume everyone else has the same.

RE: MICO Espejo R311. DVD Recorder. I have one. First thoughts.

I have a couple of E50s one hooked to Sky and another freestanding for other purposes. Its a good machine but not infallible. Sometimes with -r discs you do get a `disc error` and recovery process when basically you have to throw the disc away. On the other hand the ram facility is great for editing but the discs are expensive and generally non compatible save with a few Panny DVD players. Basically the technology is still evolving and will take another 5 years at least to mature.

RE: HELP PLEASE Region Hack for PANASONIC DVD-S35/DVD-S31

Read the intro to the forum, there are no user remote hacks FOR ANY PANASONIC DVD PLAYER. You need to go to a dealer or rent a special one off remote from a web company.

RE: 10Gb iPod at Dixons - £199.00

Uninformed indeed! I bought this thing for my teenage daughter for Christmas and there is no more discerning customer than a teenager but then I don`t expect you to know that. Anyway battery life has at best been 4 hrs and I don`t think there is any dispute that battery replacement is expensive and quite short term. Pity they didn`t design the thing so that the user could replace the battery themselves - still a nice little earner don`t ya think?

RE: Copying DVD`s

There are anti-copy features built in to commercial dvd`s to stop people copying them! Unless you have a cheepo chinese player capable of ignoring the anti-copy software you won`t be able to record anything.

RE: MICO R311 - Any help greatfully appreciated !!!

2000 years of civilization, 50 years of free education has brought us to this. Abandon hope...

RE: 10Gb iPod at Dixons - £199.00

Battery life is poor. 2-4 hrs tops and will need replacing in 13 mths at about £70.

RE: Pacific DVD-1002W Help needed

On the front of the machine they are the last two on the left hand side. Double arrowheads pointing at a bar. Those pointing to the left ar `previous` and to the right `next`. Same symbols on the remote.

RE: Best pre £60 DVD Player at the moment

If price is the only thing important to you stop far**ing around and get an Alba 45 for £29.99 from Argos ( and yes it can be made multiregion).

RE: Best pre £60 DVD Player at the moment

Think carefully before ditching the 852. This is one of a handful of players that can disable macrovision and provides a proper pal translation of American NTSC discs. You will be very lucky to find these features in any of the models being recommended.

RE: Help required multi region hacks for Panasonic S-35

There isn`t one that can be done using the remote. You have to find a Panasonic dealer with a special remote.

RE: Anyone else had problems with the MR Hack for a Panasonic S-35?

£80 ? that`s an outrage for pushing a few buttons on a remote control.

RE: i pod?

Beware, the battery life is very limited with these, the manufacturers say 8hrs but in practice it could be 2 hrs or less and the battery may expire altogether in about a year - and you can`t change the battery yourself.

RE: MICO Espejo R311 DVD Recorder,,Worth getting??

The Warfdale won`t play dvd-r but it will play dvd+r so the Mico should do you fine if this is an absolute requirement.

RE: Philips DVDR890 Nightmare

What about the 70/75/80 series, how are they holding up?

RE: Anyone else had problems with the MR Hack for a Panasonic S-35?

This machine is made multi region by means of a special remote control which is only available to Panasonic wholesalers. Panasonic are members of the DVD forum and hence will never openly admit that their R2 machines can be converted to multi-region so easily. There are specialist outfits on the web that will hire out one time only modified All in One remotes to do the job but at extortionate prices. Try to find a small independent Panasonic dealer and cross his palm with a moidest amount of silver.

RE: Sony or Panasonic DVD Recorder

I love Sony kit, my place is full of it and I have Sony stuff going back 20 years to the days of betamax (all working) but this dual recording thing doesn`t make sense and certainly not for a price premium.

PS: I think +r is a great medium but I wouln`t touch the mainstream manufacturers of the kit with a barge pole.

RE: Sony or Panasonic DVD Recorder

The DMR 60 is a waste of space unless your a camcorder fanatic or the modern equivalent of wanting to bore people with holiday snaps. The E50 is unbeatable for the money and the flexiblity of the RAM system for editing etc is unmatched. The dual capability of the Sony (+ and -) is a bit of a gimmick and you will pay 50% more for it.
