RE: Free Newspaper DVD

Black Narcissus free today with Daily Mail - pick up from Sainburys or Tesco. Useful to fill the gap in the Powell and Pressburger box set - it`s a great movie!

RE: Ebay - havnt used it for selling in over a year. Anything i need to know?

I`m in a similar situation - coming back to selling. Sounds like eBay ain`t what it used to be - any tips on good place to sell now?

RE: Wii - problems with weather and news channel?

All back to normal now - I switched the channel on my router from 6 to 1 - much improved performance all round!

Thanks for the replies tho.

Wii - problems with weather and news channel?

Anyone else having problems getting on the wii weather and news channel? Both unavailable for me - shop, wi`fi etc. all ok.

RE: Wii - Mario Kart Friends Codes

Well - That was fun! Despite coming last and second to last every time (and nearly every race!) it was a valiant first attempt. Yep, I am paul in those pitiful ratings and lesley joined me too. We got kicked off the Wifi after the first race - and had trouble getting back in, but got back in the end.

Note to self - must practice more, and attempt not to come last every time...

Great fun though, hope we didn`t keep you all waiting for us to finish very time!

RE: Wii - Mario Kart Friends Codes

Is it happening tonight at 8?

RE: Wii - Mario Kart Friends Codes

Should be there on Wednesday at 8, tho most of my friends codes are still question marks on screen...

Anyone else tried the new spinning top challenge on the Mario Kart Channel? Did it in under a minute last night, but found it quite tough. Great little game though.

RE: Wii - Mario Kart Friends Codes

I took my wii online last night for the frist time - played Worldwide MarioKart for an hour - just one more go, just one more go - loved it! Only came in the top 5 once or twice though - must try harder!

Anyway, any moves on setting up another race? My code is 3136 7609 3170 . I`ll add the handy list at the top of the thread tonight.

RE: Bargin: Peep Show Series 1, 2, 3, 4 DVD set HMV £15.99 (Deal of the Week)

Prob means the discs will be coming out in a foldy digipak insteead of the 4 fullsize DVD cases in a slimcase that this is. So the old style box is deleted, and HMV offload their stock on the cheap - bargain!

RE: Wii Online - what monthly usage do I need?

Wonderful. Thanks for the replies. Hopefully I`ll have no problems...

RE: Broadband provider? Any talktalk feedback?

Thanks guys. talktalk it is.

As always, a good useful response. I love this forum!

Wii Online - what monthly usage do I need?

Hi

I am just sorting out a new broadband deal - I`m going wireless, mainly to use my Wii for Mario Kart online, and also download vintage Virtual Console games.

I`m looking at 40GB deal for monthly usage. Is that going to be enough? Seems like loads to me, but I have no idea how much online gaming sucks up, or how big a downloaded game is.

Any help appreciated!

Broadband provider? Any talktalk feedback?

Hi

Sorry if I should be looking for a thread like this elsewhere, but I couldn`t find one...

I am currently paying £10 or so a month for my BT line rental, and £18 for broadband. I see I can get both for £16 via talktalk, but I know they have had some bad feedback in the past. Anyone got any up to date experiences? Or tips for a better option?

thanks!

It`s been cheap before, but something about it going below the magic £10 mark means I had to snap it up!

RE: DVD Recorder - Panny still tops?

I`ve gone for the Panny EX77 - £199 on amazon.

Thanks again for all the replies - always such a nice friendly respeonse on this forum! :)

RE: DVD Recorder - Panny still tops?

Yeah. I`m heading for the Panny I think - sick to the back teeth with my LiteOn - God knows why I bought that!

Anyway, thanks for the replies - anyone else?

DVD Recorder - Panny still tops?

Hi guys

I need a new DVD recorder with hard drive. It`s a toss up I think between the Panasonic DMREX77 and the Sony RDR-HXD970 or 980. I remember Panasonic was always the favoured DVD Recorder brand - is this still the case? Any tips? I`m looking to spend in the £200-300 region and I`ll use if for copying VHS (editing via the hard drive), and recording from my PVR.

RE: There Will Be Blood

It`s a crazy situation. Living in London, you can catch most films on the big screen, but even something like the amazing There Will Be Blood will disappear after a week or two.

I went to Cineworld Trocadero last week, and a bag of popcorn (one of the cheapest foodstuffs known to man) and some truly bad nachos (as a crisp fanatic I`m hard NOT to please, but there were awful, and don`t even mention the `salsa`), plus a hot dog was £14. £14! I usually stock up at a local shop first, but I was with friends who were hungry, and went straight from work. The tickets were £9.50 each!

Cinames are going to shrink and disappear at this rate. Like most of us here I assume, I like to see a film on the big screen, but the costs are getting out of control. I personally don`t bother with downloads, screeners etc., when the real DVD goes so cheap so quick these days. Cinema is now an occasional visit for me for `big screen` flicks like There Will Be Blood - which I think will suffer in the front room on a telly.

Multi Region DVDs - how will they work in future?

I have a collection of DVDs from pretty much all Regions. My main player is bust and being repaired at the moment, leaving me my DVD recorder that only plays Region 2. It struck me that Region 1, 3, 4, 5 and 6 DVDs may be unplayable in future once an HD format takes over and multi region standard DVD players are gone. Are both HD format players multi region (even for standard DVDs)?

I`m probably being silly to worry lots of my DVDs will be useless (almost certainly I am, and you`re all about to tell me why! :) )

Seinfeld complete box set - £50 on ebay - dodgy? I dunno...

Hi

Just a heads up - there are about 60 complete senfeld box sets on ebay under the title - `SEINFELD Complete Series 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8&9 *New*` . Some are Region 4, some don`t mention the Region. Don`t know where they`re from or why they are selling so cheap, but maybe worth a pop if you fancy it.

Don`t blame me if they fall apart, or if all all the discs are blank, or, or...

RE: Returning Liteon DVD recorder

Soembody pm`ed me looking for the Liteon returns number. I had a clearout of my inbox and was a bit overenthusiastic, and lost your email!

RE: Playing Gamecube games on the Wii

Thanks guys

Always useful friendly advice on this forum. I love it! :)

I`m picking up a few cheap GC games to get `up to speed` on the 21st centrury gaming world! Plus, at £30+ a throw, I won`t be buying Wii too often!

Off onto eBay for a GC card then...

Playing Gamecube games on the Wii

OK - I`ve been away from games for a while (about 15 years....) but now I`m back!

I`ve got my Wii, I`ve got my Gamecube controller, and I`m just about to get some Gamecube games.

My question is - if I want to save my position in games like Rogue Leader, Metriod Prime, do I need to get a Gamecube memory card, or can it go onto the Wii internal memory?

Apologies if this is a stupid question...

RE: Wii - any bargain bundle deals at the moment?

Thanks for that, went with Choices - hope the wait isn`t too long!

Went in a couple of the big shops in London today - no Wiis and only a few games, no Resi 4. Asked the guy in Virgin Piccadilly and he said they get 1 or 2 Wiis a week, and they always go same day.

Wii - any bargain bundle deals at the moment?

I`m thinking of buying a Wii this week after been very impressed by Resident Evil 4 and the thing in general being do much fun. So, does anyone know of a good deal - it`s hard to find for less than £179.99. There is a certain satisfaction (and secirty) in buying it over the counter, but web deals are also ok. I need the Wii, RE4, extra controller and nunchuk (nunchuks seem hard to find too - is there a shortage?). Last games machine I had was Spectrum +2, so be gentle with me people!

Best prices I`ve found so for are at www.choicesuk.com -
Wii+RE4 - £194.99
Wii Play + controller - £32.49
Nunchuk - £12.99 but out of stock

Appreciate any tips!

RE: Returning faulty LiteOn DVD Recoder

Been offline for a while - but here`s an update. Got the machine back after a week, with a new drive. Works ok again, but takes ages to read discs. Also, discs that had stuff burnt to them towards the end of the last drive`s life seem to be dead. I`ve got a few other machine I can try them on, otherwise Sue I might let you have a try!

I think I`ll be buying a Panny soon...

Thanks again for all your help.

Returning faulty LiteOn DVD Recoder
