RE: Catheters causing Septicaemia in patients

When you are in hospital with any condition that weakens you infections can occur. Last August/September I had to have a Stem cell transplant (bone marrow transplant) where they totally killed my resistance to infection and my bone marrow, I was in isolation but still managed to get MRSA in my Hickman line (a catheter in my chest to feed introvenous drugs directly into an artery near my heart) this was removed and I was treated with vancomycin a very powerful antibiotic, at the same time I suffered a multipal organ failure and there were a lot of Doctors around for a couple of days trying to sort me out before I was stabalised again (sort of!).
One discussion that I remember is that it would be too risky to put me in intensive care unless my condition got worse (can`t see how it could?), one reason given was that I would have to be fitted with a bladder catheter which could have introduced more risk another was something to do with not being in isolation. I`m 47 years old and healthy apart from the lymphoma and only just survived it by the skin of my gums (they took all my teeth out before the transplant in case I got an infection)

RE: svhs lead

*****Scart is the better option if you have choice between the 2*****
It would be very difficult to tell them apart. Some TV`s work better with S-Video than SCART and visa versa so you might have to try them both.
*****If you want to get the best out of scart then you should get a good quality lead(OFC-oxygen free copper & gold connectors).*****
I don`t think anyone would be able to tell the difference between a £10 SCART and a £50 megga cable when connected to a budget DVD player where the SCART socket on the player would be as cheap as possible, the only ones to avoid are the 99 pence type.
SCART is the European standard and works well so if you have it already connected with SCART it is the easier option.

Dwight, if it`s so bad why do you watch it?

RE: DVD Genie

DVD ROMs have always had hardware region encoding the situation changed a few years ago where it stoped being an option and became enforced, this is usually got round by flashing the firmware. DVD Genie works with software players like PowerDVD and WinDVD etc and is not intended to region free the drive.

RE: HELP LG GCC-4320B hack

RE: PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP - LG da3525 hack help

The 314159 hack is for multiregion not VCD.

Be careful when doing the VCD hack as if you get it wrong you will screw up your player.

RE: Black and white screen for L&G 3520

RE: Xbox under £150!

I did scroll down and noticed that there is no add to cart button. Also they say ****This Xbox Bundle is only available whilst stocks last - Currently our UK Distributor suggests that stocks should last until the end of January****** which is a bit differant than `in stock`.

Steve..

RE: Xbox under £150!

Oh dear!

From the website:NOTE: STOCKS UNCERTAIN AT THIS TIME SO ORDERING OF XBOX`S HAS BEEN SUSPENDED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE ABOUT STOCK AVAILABILITY.

Lets see if they get any in before the offer finishes.

RE: Plasma, Rear projection or 36" Toshiba

If I was going to spend £2500 I would find a shop that can display properly the models I was after and go for a look taking my own disk. No matter what anyone says on here it will be there own opinion and should only be used as a rough guide. Salesmen do not care what you want or need he`s only interested in his commision, go into any Richer Sounds and ask what the best DVD player is 99% of the time it will be Limit or whatever the best earner is that month. I only have a small living room so a 28 inch Toshiba flat screen jobby makes it look like a cinema and pleased I am with it. Sorry can`t help any more, good hunting.

RE: Matsui 32" Widescreen TV (32WN20)

The Matsui stuff is all outsourced with the most important thing being price. The only way to get Grundig or Sanyo is to buy them.

RE: I saw a hack for the Sony dvp-ns400 (tiresome i know!)

RE: DVD Player Cleaning

It`s ment for the inside of cameras but you can do lenses with it if you like. Cameras would be much more damaged by damp than electronics. In fact at work when something comes in for repair (industrial electronics) it is stripped down cleaned with detergent, hosed down with water then put in a drying cabinet. You are correct that if there is water inside anything with electronics you need to dry it out before powering it up.

RE: samsung 709 disable macrovision

If you do the multiregion hack it will disable macrovision at the same time.

RE: DVD Player Cleaning

Don`t know where you get your "air-in-a-can" but the stuff we use at work always seams to be dry and is sold as such because you can use it on cameras as well.

RE: Help with Word!

****the only thing I haven`t tried is the system restore...how do I do this?****
I don`t think you can with Win98 it`s an XP trick.

Have a look at the Microsoft site as there could be a problem with the software (there used to be a bug in Office 97 and Excel that used all your memory if you opened a saved file?) and you might find an upgrade to cure your problem.
