Your experiences of CD-WOW returns services please!

Viewtiful Mark (Elite) posted this on Tuesday, 5th December 2006, 11:48

I recently recieved the R3 Superman Ultimate Edition from cd-wow, but unfortunately it turned up utterly bashed on the tin packaging. I contacted them as soon as I got it (Saturday gone) and they got back to me same day to say a replacement will be despatched immediately, and to send the old one back when I recieve the new one.

Now, this item has to go back to Cyprus for some reason, and it`s going to cost a bit to post. Their email states that they will give me a credit note for use on the site as way of refund for postage, but that`s not really ideal is it? Truth be told, I was surprised at this, and would have thought it would be just as easy for them to just refund the amount. I`m going to complain about it when I get the new box, and send the old one back. If it`s only £2 then that`s not so bad, but when you`re potentially looking at a fiver +, then it`s not great.

What have your experiences been of their returns service? Let me know, particularly more recent examples.

No problems at all. Returned the disc via normal post and was refunded £2.70 postage which was pretty much the equivalent to the € amount I paid.

The refund was in the form of a voucher but as I shop their fairly regularly it was no hassle.

I`m sure I`ve read somewhere that they will refund postage back to your CC if you ask.

Ive ordered Scrubs season 1-4 off this company. The service has been pretty good, problem is scrubs season 3 was despatched 11 days ago and its not arrived so I think it has gone missing via post (as does a lot of stuff this time of year). Ive emailed them and they replied I must wait at least 7days for delivery before making a query as to its whereabouts, the 2nd time ive emailed them to explain its been more than 7 days Ive not heard anything, I`m a bit concerned as its a Xmas prez and I know its not necessarily cdwows fault but Im short of a dvd at the moment.

Hermy phone them. The numbers 0800 051 7046, and have your order number ready. Stuff goes missing all the time, but I suspect you may have been unlucky and customs have got hold of it. In which case you`ll be waiting a bit longer for it, and you`ll probably have to pay customs fees when it does turn up. Then again, I once bought a R1 DVD from PlayUSA and that took about a fortnight to show up. But it did, and there were no charges.

I phoned cd-wow myself today, primarily to find out about postage refunds. The guy confirmed that they can only refund postage via an e-voucher for use on cd-wow for the amount. Something about not having my CC details. I thought, well, what do you do then if I phoned up wanting a full refund for the item, instead of a replacement? Give me an e-voucher for £47? I don`t think so!

I`m very disppointed tbh, and if this set turns up in a state too, or is delayed like yours Hermy, that`s me done with it. It is going to cost at least a fiver to return this set, and if I`d known about all this I would have just bought the R2 from town. It might cost a bit more, but it`s a good deal easier.

Ive been asked to allow another 2 postal days to see if it arrives, I should be ok with customs as the dvd boxset was only £15.99. I generally find cdwow pretty good delivery wise but up until now Ive never had a problem. Hopefully your boxset should be in good condition. Ive got that boxset arriving too (from another supplier) as a xmas prez for my brother i`ll have to resist opening it. I`ve never seen supes 4 or the new one yet

I`ve used cd-wow loads of times and never had any bother before, but it`s when you get these issues that you see if a retailer is any good or not isn`t it? It`ll be interesting to see how this plays out with them. To be fair to them, the set was well boxed. It`s clearly taken a hefty bump in postie land!

Has your set turned up yet then Hermy? My Superman tin turned up today, and I`m absolutely thrilled to bits. It`s completely undamaged, and now actually closes as it should, so I`m really happy. The way I understand it though, is that on R3 you don`t get the original Dolby theatrical soundtrack on Superman the Movie (theatrical cut disc 1). It`s not mentioned on the packaging or on the disc menu at all. But I really don`t care anyway, since the whole thing is so spectacular. And anyway, after hearing the mono Portugese track on my set, I don`t really think I`m missing anything. It`s very hissy and muffled. Who`s going to complain that they want a muffled soundtrack?

Hope your set turns up anyway mate. I suppose you must be thinking it`s just been nicked by a dodgy postie now eh? But as I say, I waited absolutely aaaaages for a R1 disc once, but it did eventually turn up covered in stickers from various post services.
