Game are great, HHHOOORRAAYYYYYYY

OK, back on the correct forum!
So, once again there is a problem with a site offering a price only to say wooops, it was wrong BUT even though it was our fault we will just take it out on the customers. I mean, how much would it cost for these guys to hold up their hands, say sorry we made a mistake but give it to the people who have ordered at that price (after all they need us WE DO NOT NEED THEM). This is what made the Game deal on Road Trip so refreshing, they honoured their orders but then put the price back up...fine, everyone is happy. They gave me no hassle, just a straight forward order for a great price, because of this I`ll definately order from them again...but unfortunately at the correct price this time. You see, one happy customer who will be back. Who`s going to use Jungle, WHSmith, Tesco again.................NOT ME.

I totally agree Jon - it was very refreshing not to receive an awkward e-mail from them saying "oh, sorry, we made a mistake, actually it`s £15.99".

They are also running a promo on WHV discs at £6.99 each (but don`t forget the crippling £1.95 P & P) - should we move back to the Bargain Forum then, Jon ?! ;-)

Just kidding, mate - thanks for moving the thread - definitely one to shout about.

You ask how much it costs to say, sorry that was a mistake, well that would be bugger all, but the cost of honoring such a mistake could stretch to tens of thousands, which could screw up prices elsewhere, or cause serious problems in a company`s finances (these are e-commerce sites don`t forget, they are VERY delicate). It always amuses me on these boards when people complain about companies not honoring prices which are so obviously mistakes, if the company has the choice of losing a customer or going bust I don`t think "honour" comes into it - nor should it. So as far as I can see, getting self righteous about it is a bit purile.

I don`t tend to go for one-off bargains unless they`re specified as such. Play247`s prices are good enough for me, if not I`ll wait for a sale.

To some extent, I agree, we all love a bargain.

However, when companies such as Tesco`s make a prize cock-up and send e-mails out to people confirming the wrong price, and then charge completely the full price to people`s credit cards that`s when it gets silly (I`m referring to the X Files Season 2 debacle). And this from a company that makes billions (there are still people awaiting their refund on this, as well).

I think the majority of us would agree that the obvious errors (eg AB Sounds $1.99 Planet of the Apes boxset yesterday, WHS charging 99p for Fight Club)) are not going to get honoured, but nonetheless it does make a refreshing change to see companies like Jungle (here I`m thinking of the Fight Club for a tenner gag a few months ago) and Game (with Road Trip) honouring their mistakes, when realistically they have no obligation to do so.

Thus when it does happen, it is most definitely worth shouting about - as can be seen Game have won Jon`s custom in the future, which as a PR exercise would deemed to be a result.

You`re right - apologies cost a company nothing, but when that apology never comes or the company act illegally, as Tesco`s did, it`s no small wonder that people get irked.

Good points though, Elbow Room.
