aria.co.uk - as bad as ebuyer

I bought an mp3 player from aria, which at first glance was fine, but within an hour of owning it I put a few mp3s on it and it totally died.

I contacted them to RMA it, and they got a number to me to send back, which was done the same day I recieved it.

Its now been almost a month and all they keep telling me is "you have to wait until we test it", to which I replied just try turning the bloody thing on and you`ll see its not working.

Never ordering from them again - good prices, but s***e customer service.

Sorry to hear you`ve had a bad experience with them, I guess the same can be said of most companies at some time or other though.

I`ve used them a fair bit the last year and a half, and not had any problem with them, it`s the first place I check prices when looking for something. Prices are good, I`ve found delivery to be very quick too.

I`ve only a faulty item once, it was a portable VCD player I ordered a year gone Xmas which arrived faulty. I phoned them up and they had a courier to me the next day with a replacement, and they took the faulty one away...can`t grumble with that, and never experienced such good service anywhere else.

But I guess all firms will have some customers who have a bad experience with them at some point. :)

Hi,

I am in a similar situation, i have ordered a 17inch tft monitor which has a dead pixel and i was told it was not faulty as it is a class 2 product. Aria customer support told me that Class 2 monitors can have upto 4 dead pixels before being classified as faulty but if i wanted a refund, i should return as per instructions on their website.

So i returned the TFT monitor and a day later recieved an email confirming that the RMA XXXX was recieved and will shortly be processed.

A month later, no response from Aria, i decided to call them up and they said no refund or credit note as there is no problem (except for the dead pixel) with the monitor which was checked by their technical department.

I have now spent a whole week communicating with Aria customer services who are telling me that their manager is not available to ask for a credit note. However if i want a resolution today, they will return my tft monitor which i do not need anymore! No credit note!

Any new Aria customers , you maybe fine if you need to a return a product, then you`ll get the run around, promises to call you back are never kept... i`m never going to buy from them again!

With all due respect, Aria do have this info posted on their site, it`s in the top 10 FAQs, and abide by the industry standard...see here...I agree it`s a naff rule, but we reluctanly agree to it when we buy the monitor. I just prayed mine was ok when I got one...lol :)

I`ve had to return an mp3 player at the beginning of this month which was bought on behalf of my sister in law at Xmas. I`d heard nothing except it was being dealt with up until last Friday, so emailed them about it. Got an email back today saying it had been tested and was faulty and replacement was being sent out.

With the monitor, why not try them on the distance selling regs ????

See www.tradingstandards.gov.uk/cgi-bin/calitem.cgi?file=ADV0051-1111.txt

It sounds fair to me that the product was not as described in it had defective pixels, as you would have seen the defective pixels in the shop if you had purchased it in person, you should expect the delivered item to be like the one you viewed on a web page (i.e perfect!) without any dead pixels unless it stated so on the item description.

Even if they argue, you can still argue it`s not what you expected and return it under these regs.

Your situation is unfortunate, but at the end of the day, i would rather use a retailer where the customer srvice is rc[at]p but the prices are low and the goods normally okay, then one with excellent customer service that i am constantly needing. I have had no problems with Aria or Ebuyer, and would happily recomment them to others. :)

I agree, i recently purchased a printer from belkoo.com, their deliveries took 4 days arather than the next day delivery they were supposed to offer and i got a bit fed up but when i got the printer i was really happy, i paid only £29.99 with free delivery and it was worth more than £100 online! I was so happy I even apologised to them for being so harsh!
I think big companies like aria spend a fortune looking after their customers, but to be honest i would never buy from aria again, the reason being i lost £40 for a graphic card which was not compatible with my computer, although it was not even sealed and working perfectly they still refused to refund my costs. I suggest you check out belkoo.com site and see how cheap their stuff is compared to aria!

I`ve used Aria for years with no problems until i had to return a faulty CPU.

I sent it back, after 10 days i phoned them to see what`s going on they said it tested fine and It`s £8.95 to send it back - it cost me £3 to send as it`s only a cpu. Anyway, got it back only to find out it was still dead, other CPU`s worked fine in the mobo just not this one.. I was back on the phone to them, begrudgingly they gave me a new RMA number and i sent it back again. 2 weeks later i phoned up to check the status and it hadn`t been checked yet, I left it for them to contact me after that. 3 weeks after that, 5 weeks from sending it the second time, i recieved a parcel which contained a new CPU!!! Nothing else in the box.

Either the people testing the returns aren`t doing there job correctly or are incompetant - most likely a mixture of the two!

Just had probs with them with an MP3 player, didn`t work right from the moment i got it out of the box, sent it back recorded delivery and they recieved it the nex day, took them another 4 weeks to admit there was something wrong with it and another 3 weeks to send a replacement. Doubt i`ll be ordering from them again, their customer service was crap. >:(
